Paint stairway wall or leave white.

I want to paint the family room which has the stairway behind it. Should I paint the wall of the stairway the same color as family room or can I get away with leaving it white.

    You can seal over with clear bond crete and then paint over for an excellent finish

      Hi Aystani,

      It might depend on what the other colors in the stairway are leading upstairs. If the landing, upstairs hallway and ceiling are white, you could probably get away with leaving the visible part of the stairway white, but pick a family room color that will coordinate nicely with it. Otherwise, paint the stairway the same color as the family room, a lighter shade or a coordinating color.

      Yes Rockin one wall in the family room is connected to the stairway wall. It is a new house everything is white right now Creative.

      Although an all-white or mostly white home can be stunning, I don't feel that Builder white is the best choice, so I'm going to correct myself and say go color-happy after the building has settled. Do you have a color in mind for the family room? If you plan on painting it emerald green, for example, paint the connected stairway wall a white or cream with a slight green tone or a very pale green. If you're planning on tan, paint the connected stairway wall a crisp white or warm cream that coordinates with it. I'm sure Rockin' can come up with some other innovative idea:)

      Even if you use the exact same color, real paint versus the cheap grade builder's junk is a whole different look. New, high quality paint will add a nice feel to the space, even if you choose to go with a very light neutral tone. Just remember you will need two coats as the builder's paint hasn't sealed the surface like a good quality paint will do
