Stair landing from engineered stair kit tread?

Hi Guys,

I am going to be installing these tread kits on my stairs
and I am thinking to cut the piece out of tread from the same stair kit for my
top stair landing. I am planning to glue it with PL and then nail it on sides.

I would like to know if you think that this engineered tread
will be sturdy enough for this application?

These are dimensions of stair landing that I am planning to
make so far: 3 inches wide and 37 inches in length.

Please see pictures below.

I also was thinking about making stair landing from stair
nosing like below. I liked it because it’s made from solid oak and it seem that
it will be much stronger and sturdier than engineered piece from the stair kit.
That said however if engineered tread is strong enough I would rather install engineered
one so that all my stairs look the same.

Let me know what you think.

Thank you,

Ildasm

The nosing is the best way to do it but the engineered can also work.

Do you not have left over flooring that would be best suited for the
landing? A nose is used at the edge of the landing (the "top" stair if
you will). Please visit and post your flooring questions on a flooring website. The professional flooring installers will help you very quickly.

Matching the stain may be tricky with an unfinished tread. I watched the video and.. well..are you inferring the finished top "nosing" would be without a round over or bull nose? I see what looks to be a 3 ply engineered as the flooring, just out of the picture. It would be awfully weak and splinter if I'm reading this right.
