Help for Family Room

I had a traditional family room with goldish grasscloth wallpaper, a brown couch and a gold and blue rug. It had an ugly stone fireplace and I took it down and put up a wall of white wainscotting with shelfing. Now it looks like the wall and shelfing and the remainder of the room are two different rooms. Dont know how to integrate. Will post picture later. Any suggestions. I spent alot of money and dont know what to do. I also put in chrome sconces at my contractors suggestion and know they clash with all the gold in room. Ugh, Can one mix metals? Pictures to follow. thanks. Thought of painting white wall brown. Thoughts?

Once photos are posted I can give you my thoughts, but yes to mixing metals. In the chrome sconces you can put gold "metallic" candles in them or brown.

Gm everybody, My wife and me are trying to design our new kitchen, and we are a bit concern about its location in the house. This is a DIY project, so we are looking for opinions. Hello, Nice pictures, they help. The door area leading outside I would hang long drapery with a valance or swag style in a red shade to match the rug. Move the chair away from the door and place a tall Pole Money Plant" or "Mothers-in -law-tongue" plant in a brown decorative plant pot where the chair was. Where the sofa set is right now, I could see a nice leather set in a brown shade with red/brown throw pillows. Above the sofa set a collage of family photos in brown and red picture frames. The fireplace area for the wall scones maybe change the shades to something more traditional. (You can even purchase cloth and cover them yourself). I would have a traditions piece piece of art, scenery? in the colors of brown, red, white, blue, gold, even a gold frame would be ok or brown. I would add a fireplace tool set a tall one. I will get back to you later for the rest of the room.
