Brick

I really like the brick here. Has it been painted or has it got a light render on it?

    Hi Kimberly,

    that finish is paint over a "light bagging".

    Bagged brickwork is something your bricklayer can do as they go, or you can do it when the wall is complete. It is not really render, but sand and cement, wet, traditionally in a hessian bag (hence the name) wiped across the wall. You can do it thicker or thinner, make patterns or keep it random. A test patch is a good idea, in an out of the way place. It is not nearly as costly as render - if the bickie does it as they go they just spread the mortar about that is squeezed out from between the bricks as they lay them. At least that is one way. There are others. The advantage is that doesn't really require a particular skill, unlike rendering. Also you can use a cheaper brick!

    Paint: I think that pink was a Porters paint. Murobond also provides good paint.
