L shaped living room with dining room at back

Large lounge area. Always had tv in a cupboard but want to change but it's on a wall at right angles to fireplace wall. If I move it to left of fireplace then sitting area will have to move closer leaving area bare that adjoins dining area. Any ideas please?

    Hi Chrisinem269 glad someone else does not like the television to be a focal point in a room - so refreshing!
    In one of my projects my client wanted the tv to be a discrete presence too so I sourced a great cabinet where the screen would rise up out of the back. Another option, though quite expensive, is to have the screen disguised as a mirror. Not sure how the technology works but television is in the frame and looks and works like an ordinary mirror when off but when the tv is on the screen presents clear pic of programmes.

      Could you wall mount it above the fireplace and then move the sofa to opposite it, leaving you the option of moving the armchair to either side?

      Thanks for that. Don't really like tv to be focal point of room which is why I've always had it in a cupboard but you can't get tv cupboards nowadays.

      Having it above the fire might help to give the impression that it's the fire that is the focal point? I totally agree with your point though-much nicer if the tv can be out of main focal area.

      If you were willing to replace it, there are some which come up out of a coffee table or perhaps you could have a bespoke cupboard to fit whichever place you decide on?

      I don't like the tv as the focal point either. What about custom made shelves next to the fireplace, tv on a shelf but get the shelf to swing out maybe on a hinge then can swing back in the day etc.

      We specialise in hiding TVs both behind mirrors and paintings. If you move the unit above the fireplace, you'd have to of course chase cables in the wall to ensure the full hidden effect.

      Hi Chrisinem269 PictureFrame.TV is the company I was thinking of...have seen their stuff and it's really great. Definitely one to keep in mind when trying to make sure the TV is kept in the background as it were :-)
