hace 11 añosI have seen small flush-mount fireplaces you can easily install yourself on different websites that are gorgeous. This would be beautiful the centerfold the facing wall. Try Joss and Main to see exactly what I am talking about. You could also do a flat screen tv. I love the sconce idea. I would also add some type of rectangular mirror art or floating shelves on both sides of wall. This will make the room look bigger and reflect more light.
Gp to Lamp Plus for a light fixture. They have beautiful lights for great price.Jamieson
hace 11 añosReally like the basketweave fixture from Carolyn. Here's another option that would make your space sparkle.Bubbles Glass Modern Chandelier Solaria Large Light Dining Room Lighting Ceiling · Más informaciónLaura Moore

Autor originalhace 11 añosÚltima modificación: hace 11 añosI hesitate to do another fire feature as I already have a fireplace on the other corner of the room (not that you would have known). The picture doesnt do it any justice.shami1009
Autor originalhace 11 añosI do like the basketweave chandalier. I know you dont know what the rest of the condo looks like, however, do you have any reservations about the satin champagne color clashing with the other colors?? Thank you for all of your great suggestions:)shami1009
Autor originalhace 11 añosIm not sure i completely understand your request (which room)? I dont know if this helps, however, as you walk into the main area, the fireplace is in the left most corner of the condo and the dining area is the right most corner.Laura Moore
hace 11 añosThe right and left wall of the dining room picture. There appears to be a picture frame or something on the right wall. Just trying to figure out the room size. Here are some photos of sconces let me know if I am going in the right direction. In addition to the sconces I would put some wood wall mount shelving that matches the buffet. I'll show you what I am talking a our after I send you some lighting ideas:)Laura Moore
hace 11 añosHere are some ideas. What are the colors in your picture above the buffet? They appear to have browns and gold?karen paul interiors
hace 11 añosAnother idea is to do a pair of Noguchi floor lamps on either side of your buffet. I believe with their small footprint and ambient lighting at a good height, they will actually enhance your art and give the room a rather interesting texture with the rice paper shades. Then for the buffet I would do a very nice sculptural piece set off center. For the center of your table, you might consider a very simple vase with something such as tulips (in season) or other flowers to your liking. As for your chandelier, I think in this instance I would opt for a recessed light that is a pin spot so when it shines down on your flowers the colors and shapes will take front stage for the center of your room. You will want to place that light on a dimmer as well. Of course, you also may (or may not) want to entertain the idea of an area rug. However, if you have a sculptural aspect, ambient lighting, your wonderful piece of art and fresh flowers, that may well be all the room needs.Tripod Floor Lamp · Más informaciónManon Floreat
hace 11 añosThis room has a calm, zen like aesthetic. I'm inclined to agree that less is more in this instance. I really like Karen's ideas. An organic element (flowers/foliage/rice paper) to repeat the organic element of the wood buffet under unobtrusive recessed lighting would highlight a simplicity of intention. I'd skip the chandelier altogether as well as an area rug and allow the space to breathe.Charmean Neithart Interiors
hace 11 añosI like what you have done with your space and a great fixture will take it to the next level. Consider this classic chandelier by Jonathan AdlerRobert Abbey | Ringlets 2-Light Wall Sconce · Más informaciónbprince300
hace 11 añosI think Manon is spot on. Keep the lighting on the wall, with lamps, or recessed, but dont block your views to the large art piece or the fireplace with a hanging piece in the center....karen paul interiors
hace 11 añosYes, bprince, when a piece of art is smack dab in the middle of a chandelier, it's always better to have no chandelier to obstruct the view. The pin spot gives a wonderfully (as Manon stated) Zen like feel, and when it is teamed with candles and flowers for your dinner parties, the conversation will flow and your guests will find themselves not wanting to leave the table. So, be certain to have lots of wine on hand! :)Carolyn Albert-Kincl, ASID
hace 11 añosActually, when seated at the table, the art would be quite visible as the chandelier would not be in the view line. The art would also be visible to anyone in the room as they walk around the table to get to their chair. I would not be concerned about a chandelier disturbing the view. If art could not be viewed because of a chandelier, no one would hang art in their dining room.KOUBOO
hace 11 añosÚltima modificación: hace 11 añosI like the idea of having a chandelier or pendant above the table. It adds a feel of coziness and familiarity. I would agree though that it should not be too big for the reasons stated by others. I am not too concerned about covering up the piece of art on the wall. It is sufficiently large not to get lost. I might want to suggest this one. The colors work and the textures are an intriguing counter point to the very clean surface of the other furnishings.Laura Moore
hace 11 añosDid you need advice for a chandelier above the table? I thought you were asking advice about the lighting on left and right of the art. By the way, in the beginning, I thought the picture art was some sort of backsplash or granite. That's why I suggested the fireplace at first. Any updates on your ideas, thoughts?karen paul interiors
hace 11 añosI agree Carolyn. I simply feel with the size of this particular piece and given how small the space is, the suggestion for a pin spot might be a consideration.DIC Design Group
hace 11 añosAs a lighting specialist, I would recommend the item pictured below on a dimmer for mood setting. The light fixture is 24" diameter ...perfect for a table that is 46-52" diameter. The room also looks small and adding a chandelier and sconces is too much for this small space. Candle sconces would add ambience instead and scented candles would add flavor during meal time!Carolyn Albert-Kincl, ASID
hace 11 añosI definitely agree with Karen that your art needs to have a spotlight on it, something I like to do with all important art. But I would also use a chandelier.Da Vinci Concepts

Autor originalhace 11 añosYes, our original request was for a chandalier that would go above the table but there have been so many great ideas that we have been noting any and all options. Our condo is a obviously a work in progress and our style is livable modern. We had a darker wooden rectangular set with dark brown chairs as of recent, but replaced it with these in hopes of lightening up the space and also with the intent of installing hardwood in the near future. We are just looking for that that nice balance of furnished and modern but not sterile and cold. You guys are all great and very talented:)shami1009
Autor originalhace 11 añosI think there has been some confusion as to the layout of the condo. Please let me know if you need more pictures to help make sense of this space or help tie it all together.Creative Lighting
hace 11 añosI love the idea of doing something a little more vertical like the Crystalrama fixture above. Here are some fixtures by Elk Lighting that are a little bit modern that have really clean simple lines. I also added another fixture that you can have some more fun with. hace 11 añosThe four rules of lighting are as follows.
1) You chose where you want the light to fall, then worry about where it comes from, then worry about how much, then worry about the light fitting.
2) See Rule 1.
3) If you don't reckon that Rule 1 important, read The Architecture of Light or something with a similar-sounding title.
4) Ignore any "lighting specialist" who ignores Rule 1.Good Taste
hace 11 añosÚltima modificación: hace 11 añosP.S. You could do worse than ignoring the old light-fitting-half-as-wide-as-the-table-nonsense too.Good Taste
hace 11 añosP.P.S. Chose a rug in conjunction with your light fitting.
P.P.P.S. You need to also consider the context: your house.
P.P.P.P.S. Ignore any "lighting" person who recommends an expensive and glaring chandelier, and no other options, to someone who has a low ceilings.Good Taste

hace 11 añosI love your dining room set. I love the Jonathan Adler chandelier that was posted above; but I also like the return of crystal chandeliers. I hope you post pics when you are finished.karen paul interiors
hace 11 añosShami, it never hurts to post more pictures. More information always yields better results. To apennameandthata, I don't live in Brisbane but I sure could use a psychiatrist! Ha, ha! :)klmt
hace 11 añosI love your art, and your new dining set as it's obviously lightened the room up a lot. Going modern, you'll want to keep it simple and uncluttered. Here are my thoughts based on what I can see in your pic. Put a spot on the art if possible, or at least an art light you can simply plug in the wall to wash the painting. Change out your chandelier for another, but choose one that's open and airy so that it doesn't visually chop up the room and doesn't completely block the view of the art. Those suggested by Jameison and Charmean and Diva are quite good. Kouboo's recommendation repeats the color of the buffet, but is too solid looking for me. I would make sure that the chrome from your dining set is repeated in the chandelier, but if you can find a fixture that also has a touch of wood or brown color, that would be great. As lovely as sconces would be in theory, I think it's too much for this room. They would make it look cluttered and detract from the painting/chandelier tableau.Laura Moore
hace 11 añosI would definitely put some recessed lighting so it won't chop up room. In addition, You could even do close to ceiling so it will not no obstruct the view of the art. It would compliment it.
Then, on the left and right side of the art put sconces and orfloating shelves. My Designer Touch
hace 11 añosI love the idea of basket weave lamp. and the sconces on both sides of the artwork. And you will be surprised with the lamp plus selections. I know I was.
