Bedroom Curtains with a Wall of Windows

Our master bedroom is not very large and the back wall is almost entirely windows. We do not need drapes for privacy but want them to darken the room for sleeping. The length from edge to edge is about 170". Would you just buy a custom single long curtain rod with multiple brackets or would you try to break up the windows by doing 3 separate rods?

Apologies for the dark picture! The previous homeowners used shower rods (eeek) inset in the window frame and hung shower curtains!! You have to see it to believe it but needless to say we are eager to class up the look.

Definitely use one long rod and drapery with the ability to open each pair individually to stack between the windows and off onto the wall on each end. This will require more width in each set of drapes. Or, use the same type of rod with stationary drapery panels between each window and on the wall to frame the glass - then install blackout blinds to close only at night. These stack very tightly and if mounted inside the window frame (where the previous homeowner put their shower rods) the headrail will blend right in with the painted molding. Good luck with your project - looks like a great room!
