Combine Old and New

The owner of a condo wanted a newer more modern look but she wanted to keep her collections of art, silver, crystal and antique furniture. We used colors she loves, yellow, red and grey to provide the common thread to tie these two styles together.

BEFORE - bland wall color, furniture too similar to wall color and makes no impact, small ornaments create a cluttered look. fireplace needs updating from the oak of the 80's. This area should look cozy and inviting but lacks warmth.

AFTER - warmer, darker paint color, new furniture adds color and fits better in this small area, new window coverings add texture and warmth, white fireplace pops against the walls. artwork and décor items create a cohesive vignette.

BEFORE - the corner makes a nice reading nook but the owner needed space for a desk.

AFTER - The desk is a beautiful design and is visually unobtrusive because of the glass top. The area is now beautiful and functional.

AFTER - A funky lamp helps this office area fit in with the casualness of the rest of this open area.

Before - The china cabinet and table were family heirlooms. The cabinet was full of crystal and silver and it was impossible to see their beauty because they just looked like clutter. The décor didn't match the vision of a more modern setting.

AFTER - The silver was removed and displayed elsewhere and only the crystal was displayed in the china cabinet. More modern décor items were used to update the area.

This master bedroom lacked warmth and comfort. It needed color, new bedding and wall and window coverings.

AFTER - A warm, grey paint and metallic wallpaper behind the bed, as well as new drapery added texture. New pale yellow bedding added coziness.

Before - This room was a catch all for some very special items that the homeowner wanted to make part of her new home even though they are very traditional items and have to live with the updated look of the condo overall.

AFTER - This is the one room in the house that was dedicated solely to the traditional style, with the exception of the window coverings which are light and airy and harmonize with the other rooms. Also, the color scheme was repeated with red and pale yellow bedding and a warmer shade of grey on...
