Design of a plain "white-box" one bedroom apartment in Harlem

Another view of the living area. An extra large modern art piece was used in the small space. The turquoise blue lamp base is one of a pair, with the other lamp used in the bedroom. The lamps were differentiated with two different style lampshades.

The apartment began as a plain white box, with limited architectural interest. The pocket doors between the living room and bedroom, as well as the door to the bathroom, were painted with a high gloss lacquer paint in a deep blue-black to add a punch of interest to the space. The living area is...

Another view of the living room shows a gilt mirror used to enlarge the space and reflect light. The leopard pillow on the sofa is made from vintage French couture fabric.

The walls and ceiling of the small bedroom were painted a deep peacock blue, which blurs the lines of the space to make it appear larger. To the left, the center piece is a framed hand woven textile and the bottom piece is a framed New Yorker cover from the 1950's.
