Just keep in mind that skirted toilets are more difficult to install and much more difficult to repair due to limited access to the fill and flush valves.

For my part, I use Houzz. I'm showing off, maybe with fewer zeros.
The beam spread/angle appears to be the problem.
If you have actual recessed fixtures you might try PAR (parabolic aluminized reflector) bulbs, which are readily available. These bulbs generally have a 40 degree beam angle, as opposed to a 110 degree angle on BR units (bulged reflector).
If you have wafer lights (might as well say they have a 180 degree beam angle) you may need to replace with downlights. I have seen ceramic units from Justice Design Group. They look like cylinders 5-6 inches long. Bulb should fit inside the cylinder, which will create a cone of light that does not hit sides of the ceiling tray. A dimmer will help.

Plenty of living rooms and family rooms have a chandelier or two ... nothing weird about it, specially when you have the ceiling height/space for it.
I have a chandelier in my family room with 12 ft ceilings and also have recessed lights.

I have to agree with Dani. It would be much more helpful to see a photo of your guest room. That is especially true since you're asking for color advice for drapes. Would you be willing to add at least one photo showing bedding and area rug?
I agree with Patricia that solid drapes would be better. Since your walls, shutters and furniture are white, would you consider painting the walls a soft beige to pick up on the beige in the rug? It seems the furniture would show much better against a color. And drapes the same color as the walls would not close in the room. If so, I would find blackout drapes in a beige color similar to that in your rug, then match the paint to them. (I happen to be planning this in my home, after much discussion here on Houzz.)
Nice suggestion for rod from both Patricia and Think. Think's description matches what I've been advised to do in my living room where I want drapes to hang very neatly. And Flo recommended the pleat style below to make the drapes hang neatly. That may not work with blackout drapes due to thckness, and it may not even be the look you have in mind. Nevertheless, I'm sharing it, just in case you--or any followers--are interested.
I looked at the model of the house. There appears to be plenty of space on each side of the windows. If it were my house, I would run the track to cover the window wall. You will want some space at the ends to insert the carriers into the track. Covering the entire wall should allow for plenty of stackback space.
