You are removing all crown moulding - Seriously! I have crown moulding on my 9 foot ceilings on the first floor and on 8 foot ceilings upstairs and they are all painted white and they look gorgeous!

My 1988 house had the same thing when we purchased in 2019. took crown trim and baseboard off but kept windows and doors. Also sanded popcorn ceiling.

Of your 3 choices, the Shoji White looks the best IMO. But, that is an AI rendering, not real-life. You need to test paint samples in the space.

I'd sample off-whites/soft whites -- they're not going to fight with the trim. Stay away from grays and blues.

I think what you have now is so much more attractive than either Duxbury Gray or Stonybrook and certainly better than them together. We bought a gray house and painted it blue. What a wonderful transformation!

The table was a gift from my parents 40+ years ago,since it is a simple table I would like to make it work. i am thinking of sanding the wholentable to raw wood now. Chairs are very solid maple and honestly most chairs now are not made nearly as well. i need to make these work. i want to paint now as there is not much else I can do during construction. natural wood table and soft black/taupe?

You should be aware of how difficult maple is to stain. It's a very hard wood and can be blotchy when stained. Maple also has a tendency to yellow when it is left in its natural state. I would look for tutorials on how to stain maple effectively.

I think I’m going to stick with a thin gold floater frame, as basic as I can find. I think wood with gold may be too much.

Pictures are lovely! The green pillows look good. I would do 2 16-18 inch square pillows. Maybe a gold lumber pillow for middle of the sofa. The length would about the size of the sofa seat.

I like the artwork including its size.

I don’t think the artwork is too large. Its proportions work well with the bench and the height of the wall, and it gives the entry the presence that the smaller canvas was probably missing. It may only feel oversized because your eye was accustomed to seeing a much smaller piece there. I would live with it for a while before changing anything.

I also like how its soft colors work with the wood bench and the classic architectural details. The entry already has a lovely balance between traditional character and a cleaner, more current look.

The wall color with the tile and black fixtures is a no. When you have the heaviness of black fixtures I recommend softening the stark contrast. Black fixtures rarely look good with a lot of color in the space. For that reason I would keep the room monotone. I would do a dark wallpaper. Remove the cabinet shoved in the corner it looks like an afterthought and it is bringing down the entire space. . If you don’t want to replace the pedestal sink with an actual vanity then I would skirt the vanity so you can store essentials like TP etc under the skirt. It will bring some softness and pattern into the space. Or If skirting the sink isn’t your style I would get a tall and much nicer looking cabinet and place it directly to the left of the sink. Bring in neutral art and frame it in silver to compliment the crispness of the mirror. If you need more “counter space” you could place a stand to the right of the sink to hold items.

I think you need to consider some things.

1. What is the style of the rest of your home?
2. What is the architectural style of the home?
3. Wallpaper is an investment . Will you still love this pattern 1,2,3 years from now?
4. You have a large wall that wants art. What type of art will you be combining with the large floral?

Patterns like this tend to date themselves much quicker than more neutral patterns.

Your fixtures and mirror skew modern. Yes pedestals are traditionally based but once they are black then they become more modern by default. The mirror is modern. Bringing in overly traditional elements by way of finish carpentry might not be in the spaces best interest , especially if the rest of the home doesn’t warrant it.

Consider doing a more neutral based patterned paper and bringing in your floral by way of art. Something like this will give you more longevity and you can change the art when you feel like you’re wanting something different.

lisedv showed you a nice floorplan from another one of your dilemmas. IMO this is better than the sectionals that eat up a lot of space.

Thanks, Val—that helps. With six adults there most weekends, I’d compare the layouts as six-person seating, not just by the number of modules. Before ordering the six-seater, ask Macy’s for the exact configuration drawing and try the corner with both adjoining seats occupied. If one person has nowhere comfortable to put their legs, you’ll still need another seat elsewhere. It’s worth marking that extra chair on your floor plan now, alongside the sectional, rather than discovering you need it after delivery.

If you absolutely need something at base of the art,consider a living plant in a ceramic container possibly slim and rectangular.
Choose a pot that is any one of the colors in the pictures...blue pink green brown,your pick,to make an eye pleasing vignette.

I would take a pic that does not show the street that l live on.

Lighter rather than dark for a cinder block home, bounces light off the uneven texture.

Lighter exterior also makes the home appear larger than a receeding dark color.

the black storm door and screened porch is a nice contrast too.

The native plants are such a feature to Florida homes, I would choose a light color house paint as a backdrop to the green plants.

I totally agree with other posters who are suggesting to mount the tv above the fireplace. I'm done that in two of my homes now and the neck strain that people fear has never been a problem. Keeping the window clear is a very good suggestion.

Your idea is the best one so far, I've done it many times. With your layout it is probably the best option! Good thinking
