“We dealt with Randy Skidmore of Muskoka Lakes Construction in October 2010 when we bought an old property on Lake Muskoka. Randy started by renovating the upstairs living quarters of the two slip boathouse. He did an excellent job updating the two bedrooms / 4 pc bathroom / kitchen / and small family room. He then started on the new cottage in Sept 2011. His design was perfect - he incorporated the lay of the land and the lake view along with our "wish list". We get many compliments on the cottage - I always say that it was Randy's design so I cannot take credit for it.
Randy's patience with our many inquiries and his followup are what made it a pleasure to deal with him. He always has the client's best interest foremost. His trades are excellent from teh carpenters to the plumbing to the electricians.
I would highly recommend Muskoka Lakes Construction for any new build / renovation / or addition.”

“My name is Stacey Svihla, I'm a Certified Interior Decorator. My home was renovated by Albert and his crew and worked on for about 2.5 months. Everyone involved was very kind, polite and respectful. In that time, the walls between the living room, kitchen and family room were taken down, to create an open concept living space. All the builder grade carpet, tile and parquet were removed on the main floor and replaced with hand scraped, wide plank, honed finished hard maple hardwood. Both stair cases were sanded and re-stained to match new hardwood and new white pickets installed. The popcorn ceiling was scraped to give way for a fresh, clean and smooth ceiling. The original kitchen was removed set up in the garage for storage. A custom kitchen was built and installed, in Benjamin Moore's Simply White. Several of the adjoining walls were given rounded corners to add softness to the space. A guest bedroom and full three piece bathroom were also added in the already half finished basement.”

“My wife and I started our journey in building a new cottage about 10 years ago. After several failed attempts at finding a trustworthy builder we met Matt McCague at the cottage show almost 4 years ago. We did our due diligence and interviewed his past customers, visited past and current projects. We courted Matt for over 2 years before committing to have him build our dream cottage. He never objected to our millions of questions and was always willing to review or meet with us to discuss our plans. We have been so pleased with the progress. We're about 75% complete. Matt estimated a spring complettion date and we're on track. He has always been very up front and clear on the stages of the construction. Matt is very hands on and is always involved in the day to day process. Being the type of person that has always done their own work and renos I was skeptical I would find a builder that I could work with and one who would be tolerant with me. Our experience has been fantastic. I have never regretted my decision to hire Muskoka Custom Cottages. I believe Matt honestly cares about his customers and truly wants to make their building experience fulfilling. Matt is a problem solver. He will find a solution for every issue that may arise. He has been very patient and allowed me to be involved as much as I wanted to be in the decisions through the course of construction. I thank Matt for his exceptional work and feel we have formed a long lasting friendship.”
