“My husband and I have followed Michael Klement, the Principal at Architectural Resource, at the Ann Arbor home shows and remodeling tours for years. His passion for the work he does is evident in everything he does, and is delightful to listen to during his tours. We've visited every home that has been open for tours and no two are alike. His talent is so broad - from respecting a classic Italianate design, to creating a found-art energy efficient modern masterpiece. He excels at listening to what the customer is looking for and delivering perfection. He blends brilliant design with smart, efficient, architectural engineering. After years of dreaming of what Michael could do for us, we were finally in a position to consider hiring him. He met us at our home and talked with us about our "ultimate vision of living". We can see how this approach could lead to the perfect personalized homes that we had toured. He walked us through the design process and laid out an estimate for pricing. After the meeting I was so energized and excited that it took 2 hours to fall asleep (it was way past my bedtime!). Ultimately, we couldn't find a piece of empty property with the location / features we wanted for a price that would allow us to build new with Michael. So we purchased a home with "potential" and are saving up for the chance to do a remodel/rebuild with him on this property. We wouldn't dream of working with anyone else.”

In addition to detailed architectural drawings they provided three dimensional models showing what the home would look like after the renovation. “Molly Bachelor was our architect for a recent project that involved a new front porch with Azek deck and steps and a cedar ceiling, a new exposed-aggregate concrete front walkway with a solid steel blacksmith-crafted handrail, LED path lighting on cedar posts supporting the railing and along the walkway and driveway, and new paint on the plywood panels between the redwood siding on our midcentury modern home.
Molly did an excellent job of listening to our needs and desires, and then developing a plan that would enhance the curb appeal and increase the safety of our home. Her design respected the style of the house but gave it a unique flair. She connected us with a contractor who was as pleasant to work with as she was. Molly was easy to reach when a question was raised or a decision needed to be made – by us or by one of the contractor’s crews. We are delighted with the results and highly recommend Molly Bachelor as an architect.”

“We worked with Stan Monroe to design and build our home on land we had purchased several years earlier. Stan listened as we discussed how we wanted our home to work, and designed a floor plan that met our expectations in the contemporary style that we liked and that took into considerations the features of the lot on which the house was to be built. Interesting design features were incorporated as the design of the house evolved, and the result is a wonderful family home that is beautiful, comfortable and welcoming to guests.
Any elements that exceeded budget were our own choices, and deadlines were met throughout the process.
Some of my favorite design features are the ceilings, curved walls and the custom glass front door that Stan designed. He insisted that a glass door was the best choice for the front of out house. We did not like the front of the house being wide open to the street. Stan designed a sand-blasted pattern on the glass in the door that gave us privacy, and added a beautiful design element that echoed the other curves in the house.
We have been in our home for 16 years and still love the design. The entire process was a pleasure.”

“east arbor architecture helped us every step of the way to create a new kitchen and first floor layout. Our home was built in 1947 and an addition was added in 1980. The kitchen was original to when the home was built. Dan came up with many options to change our layout to be both more functional & beautiful. His plans were all in keeping with the historical age of the home. He created room layout plans from the least invasive and least expensive to build all the way to a complete rework and very different layout than what we could have ever imagined.
Once we selected a plan, east arbor architecture bid out the project to three different contractors. We also had Dan continue to work for us through the entire build so that when surprises occurred, he was right there to help the builder problem-solve to come up with the best solutions. Having east arbor architecture work with us throughout the entire project - planning to finished construction - gave us the extra support to handle issues and confidence that the right solutions were being made. We truly appreciate the quality of work and definitely recommend east arbor architecture!”
