“The Smith & Robertson team designed and built a custom house for us at Wintergreen VA. We started in March, 2012 and finished in January, 2013. We had a great experience designing and building, and are very pleased with the final product. Glenn and Ron are easy to work with and have a can-do attitude. The design was exactly what we wanted. They were able to put our dream home on paper and make it work. They were very creative on where to save money on the project, but also how to include some of the perks we really wanted. The sub-contractors they hired were professional and, for the most part, on time. The building supplies that S & R insisted on using were top-notch. Our "green rating", a big focus for S & R, is a big plus to our new home. We were able to stay within budget. We would highly recommend this wonderful team for design/build.”

“Tom Phenicie is a high integrity person, and this is the primary reason I hired him to build my home and every project needed at rental and commercial properties I own. I do not shop on competitive bids for my projects because there really are no competitors to Tom. Materials cost what they do regardless of the contractor so the only difference possible is the person on the job. My primary residence recently appraised at over 1 million, a 60% appreciation in 12 years! Quality that stands the test of time is why Tom is currently estimating a second recreational home in a neighboring state for my wife and I. We will have to pay more due to travel distance and out of state licensing, but frankly Tom is worth it. Cost figures below are for most recent commercial project.”

They are very knowledgeable, professional, attentive and honest. Their work product is of the highest quality and the sub-contractors used were the best in the business. We loved working with them and are very happy in our new home. We were so pleased that we plan to have them finish our basement !!”

His professionalism is seen in his personal involvement (he installed the flashing around the garage window/roofline). His expertise and creativity is second-to-none. “Excellent job. Job involved improving existing 24’x 32’ workshop. Adding roof over deck on one side and raising the roof height on lean-to structure to accommodate tractor on the other side. Entire building was resided. Work was accomplished in a professional manner and the worksite was cleaned up at the end of each work day and at the completion of the job. I was kept informed on all aspects of the work. I would recommend this builder.”

“Chris Kohlhaas and his exceptional team turned my 1985 single family house into a modern residence by leveraging their in-depth knowledge, experience, and a lot of innovation. Chris had a fantastic attitude during the entire process and accommodated every last minute change I requested. He was able to stay within my modest budget while still delivering on all of my requirements. This renovation included redesigns of my kitchen, 3 bathrooms, the living/dining room, two staircases, and my back deck. Chris also integrated a tank-less water heater, a whole house water filtration system and a new high efficiency HVAC system. From knocking down walls, to painting the entire interior of the house, Chris' attention to detail and proactive management approach made this a pleasant engagement.”
