I used Skill Construction & Design for extension of our house. We moved our kitchen to extended area. They also built an office space, a front portico, and replaced whole siding around house. Although it was a pretty big project, they did a wonderful job. They provided different price options in the beginning with the detailed project cost which was very helpful in making our decision to go with them. They also listen to our concern/needs and do the project according to our preference. Most of all, their work is excellent. We are very satisfied with our project with Skills. The whole house looks completely new! I would recommend Skill Construction & Design, LLC for your house renovation.

Skill delivered a “rush” bathroom for us. The team was professional; the design touches were perfect, and the work was flawless. Due to our accelerated schedule, certain materials were unavailable. Skill easily offered substitutions. The granite substitution was so much more affordable than our original selection, we were able to add granite for the adjacent wet bar. The end results were gorgeous. We are very, very picky — but equally pleased. Five stars on every measure.

Skill Construction and Design finished ahead of time and on budget! We just love our kitchen renovation and everything turned out beautifully! The pictures speak for themselves! They came by on numerous occasions to ensure everything was running smoothly . Our kitchen wasn't the easiest to upgrade due to the tight space. The storage/layout of the cabinets was designed in a smart, functional, and sleek way. I recommend Skill Construction without reservation! I hope to do business with them again in the near future.

Skill Construction has been great to work with. They have an incredible eye for value and design. I needed them to renovate a rental property in the City of Fairfax after years of wear and tear by tenants, and they did so creating great value. In only 3 weeks time property was renovated completely and at completion we were able to raise the rent significantly and recoup my investment in during the next lease term. They are the best.

Skill designed and built a two-story addition to our home, as well as a garage, and we are extremely happy with the result! During the design process, they asked great questions and helped us define what we wanted/needed for the project (kitchen, bedroom, bathroom, garage). We appreciated their attention to detail and daily progress emails, something few other companies offer, and Steven our project manager was on-site every day to give updates and handle issues as they arose. They were with us every step of the way, from shopping for cabinets/fixtures together, to final walk-thru, through a follow-up warranty check-in several months after completion. We love our expanded home!

As a ceramic tile distributor who works with many companies within the construction industry, we often have a front row seat to witness the different characteristics of these companies and can see who the best of the best is in terms of quality craftsmanship, customer service, integrity, professionalism and so on. I was given Skill’s information in 2007 at the time I lived out of state and needed someone trussing to fix my 71-year-old father’s home. My father started using a walker and as a WW2 Vet, he was stubborn about admitting he needed help. After meeting Robert and Suzanne, he was a changed man; even excited about remodeling his bathroom. Robert took his time to outline the process and even included my father in the nuts-and-bolts of design process. Suzanne did her magic and was able to take my father’s retired budget and come up with a 5-year plan with priorities on what the doctor wanted first. They built forward, knowing there was going to be more done later in the space they set up the current project to illuminate major disruption for the next phase. Now my father is 89-years old, he will not call anyone but Skill to do work for him. For that reason, I did not hesitate to call Skill to remodel my rental. The renters were not happy when I decide to move my family back to the Annandale area; sad to say the renter trashed our home. Robert and Suzanne went to our home and assessed the damages. Knowing our budget made list of what they believed was priority and provided us list of could wait for later. We trusted them and had them move forward with their ideas. We were delighted with the outcome, the design, the attention to detail and open communication of Robert, Suzanne & their team. They were always keen to listen to our suggestions, allowing us to feel like we were taking ownership and directing the project, answer our many questions, settle our nerves, and keep us in the loop. My Partner and I were impressed with the nightly email updates from their staff and because we were out of state, they created an Apple Photo Stream and uploaded pictures for us to view. We did weekly Facetime meetings showing us the home’s progress. There was a couple of what they call “unforeseen items”, for example, the old 1952 tub had been leaking and we had to fix the floor joists. They were quick to provide us with change order and were helpful walking us through the process, in addition to giving us an updated calendar. They have great project management skills, Time keeping, firm budget set out at the beginning of contact, ability to problem solve and think outside the box, great imagination and flair to create a unique house with a difference, genuine enthusiasm for project and always being happy to discuss any ideas or issues. I have no hesitation in recommending Skill Construction & Design, LLC and providing them the highest compliments and look very forward to working with them on our next project, which we are starting addition deigns next month; we are excepting! I have been working with Skill for sometime now. They have unique designs and happy customers. I enjoy seeing their work and working with them. They are ethical in their dealings with me and seem to listen to the client.

Do not waste your money or your time. This company posed themselves as a capable responsible firm. They hosed us for over 4 grand and did not deliver one single item outlined in the contract. We kept pressing for a cost and they kept refusing. We asked for our deposit back and they refused to return it. Their reason was they went above and beyond the scope of work. Although no work ever took place. If you do not care what your end product will cost before you enter into a contract then we recommend them.

At Fairfax Marble and Granite we deal with some of the top contractors like Skill Construction. We have dealt Rob and Susan for many years, and have enjoy the way they deal with honesty, knowledge and premium services for their customers. Dealing with Skill Construction has been a pleasant experience and we will keep giving them the best of services for them. We would certainly recommend Skill Construction!

We interviewed approximately six design build firms to work on our complete kitchen remodel. We decided upon Skill Construction & Design, LLC (then RJK construction). We were impressed with their design ideas and that the estimate was within our budget. During construction they were communicative and easily accepted and suggested some design changes - including a make over of the dining room. We love the finished product.
