About Julia Overton Interiors Julia Overton is known for her gracious, comfortable interiors which are a result of a partnership with each client. She believes a well-designed space nurtures the unique lifestyle of her clients and reflects something of their personal story. Her goal is to create, welcoming beautiful spaces to be lived in and enjoyed rather than individual showcases. Her trademark is making a new room seem as though it has been gradually filled over time. She appropriately combines her clients’ favorite treasures with beautiful upholstery, handsome furniture, and a well-chosen antique or two. “This way the room does not feel ‘done’ and has a more relaxed atmosphere.” These elements, along with lush fabrics and architectural details give her rooms a settled and timeless look. She sees an open dialogue between herself and her client, as absolutely essential. “I listen as they describe how they’d like to spend time in a room. Floor plans are then developed from their individual goals like fostering conversation here, or encouraging a space to linger there; or creating a space where kids enjoy bringing friends home.” One of Julia’s favorite ways to give a room great energy is using strong color. She has even helped clients overcome their fear of color by showing them how a balance of color and neutrals can be a delightful way to mix art work and wall or ceiling paint with fabric and floor coverings.
