Lawrence Allan Inc. is a full-service, boutique design firm specializing in custom renovations, interior architecture and interior design/decoration. As an experienced faculty member of New York School of Interior Design, the nation’s top-ranked Interior Design program, Lawrence has an extensive educational background in the decorative arts, fine arts, architectural precedent and history, along with a passion for excellence, we bring an innovative approach to a broad vocabulary of design ranging from classic to modern. As project managers we act exclusively as our client’s advocates on every aspect of the project. We bring together and oversee the finest team of craftsman and specialists to ensure the work is executed expeditiously and to the highest standards. We nurture and maintain long term and ongoing relationships with all of our clients so that we may continue to serve them long after the work is completed.

We worked with Lawrence on the renovation of our home and thought that he and his team were excellent. We would highly recommend him. From the beginning Lawrence stressed how important it was to him that we have a home that reflects us and our lifestyle. He is very inventive with fabulous taste. He loves working with color and unique finishes. He designed a few special pieces of furniture and many custom details. He welcomes lots of input and readily adapted ideas to reflect our wishes. We knew going in that he was very experienced at gut renovations. It is clear he loves what he does from the interior architecture to the smallest details. His office handled everything, from producing all the drawings, selection of furniture and finishes and project management. The office is very organized and was always on top of the project, handling all things big and small. Our general contractor thought he was among the best designers he ever worked with. Also, Lawrence is a very funny guy which comes in handy over a complex project. We can’t wait to work with him again.

Working with Lawrence has been an entirely positive experience. As a masonry contractor, I am aware of the potential friction between the vision of a project and the implementation of it. Lawrence is adept at creating the vision and then following through the construction phases, attending to every detail along the way. Together, we transformed a circa 1980's residential pool area in Fairfield County into a magazine quality outdoor living space. Lawrence has great vision to be sure. But just as importantly, he has the ability to lead and manage. The result is happy customers!

Lawrence Allan worked with me from start to finish on a NYC apartment renovation. He took time to understand what I wanted and work within my budget. He started by making detailed schematics and plans of the work. He managed the various construction crews (GC, electrical, etc.), the buildings personal, and the permitting. He took me out to see various furniture and soft good choices. I always felt I had a good understanding of where the project was at any point in time. I loved the finished apartment. It really highlighted my style. Lawrence Allan is an all Star Interior Designer!

I have hired Lawrence for several projects over 10 years, most recently the design of my new home. Lawrence is an incredibly collaborative designer -- at no point did I ever feel like my home was going to look like "his" taste; rather he's able to guide his client to the best manifestation of their own taste. He's creative and always willing to find low-cost alternatives to mix in with the high-end, and loves seeking out young and innovative furniture and lighting designers, which resulted in a comfortable home with really unique touches. Critically for us, who were working full time and trying to organize a move to a new city, he project-managed the entire effort long-distance (including sourcing and organizing contractors, painters, electricians, etc), and turned what I feared would be a major nightmare into a really fun and exciting time. On our move-in date, the entire project was complete (and, amazingly, slightly under-budget). My entire family considers him a close friend, and I wouldn't work with anyone else.

Lawrence was referred to us by a good friend for the renovation of our house. Besides for being extremely talented he is downright fun to be around. His taste is exquisite, but more importantly really inventive with a sense of fun. He is constantly creating, problem solving, collaborating, he never settles for second best, he keeps going until he feels he gets it just right. My husband and I laugh about how many times we heard the phrases "big idea" and "outside the box" and the result is stunning. People come into our house and are blown away, as are we,

Lawrence is a gifted designer. We love working with him. His expertise in architecture, design and art history was such a valuable asset given the complexity of our project. He worked with us on developing a concise and cohesive vison for our home. Every choice was so well informed, and he brought such meticulous attention to detail. Our contractor was very impressed with the quality of the drawings Lawrence and his team produced and everyone on the project worked very well together. Lawrence loves working with color, which at first we felt a bit unsure about, but as the presentations were evolving the selections were so stunning that we felt confident moving forward. Needless to say we couldn’t have imagined a better experience or a more beautiful home.

I worked with Lawrence on the gut renovation of my apartment on the Upper West Side. It was my first time renovating and I was really glad to have him. He made the complicated easy. I had a lot of ideas for the project and Lawrence was able to sift through those ideas with me while offering a really unique perspective of his own. He was constantly offering new and exciting ideas. He was always accessible and very open to my ideas. We worked very well together. I love that my home feels truly original. His office is very organized and the customer service is excellent. Lawrence is an expert manager as well. I felt a bit overwhelmed starting the project but he quickly put me at ease and I am thrilled with the results.

Endlessly creative is the best way to describe Lawrence. We first hired him several years back for the renovation of our apartment in the city and then worked with him again on the renovation of our home in Connecticut. Lawrence is passionate about his work and a complete joy to work with. He really dedicated himself to getting to know our family and gave us a home that was highly personalized. His ability to interpret our taste was amazing. He is a dedicated artist who challenged both himself and us. In both projects he designed every aspect of the interior, including beautiful custom kitchens, custom furniture pieces and built-ins. He and his team are excellent project managers, highly organized and on top of every detail. Lawrence managed every aspect of the project for us which was a real benefit given our busy lives. He and his staff check in with us on a regular basis. He is simply the best.
