We were introduced to Distinctive Domain through our real estate agency to build a new house that we had been dreaming of. The first meeting with DD had to be held through Zoom in the very beginning of Covid 19 Pandemic. When we started to talk with Jim & Dan at the meeting, they wasted no time in helping us develop an extensive building plan that satisfied our budget. Though we had some unconventional ideas, they were very willing to accommodate our desired plan and were transparent throughout the process, updating us with progress through the building procedures. In addition, we appreciate the effort to help us move in a timely manner, in spite of the pandemic situation. Our friends are often surprised to find that we were able to find a builder in these times to complete our house, and we are grateful that there was very little delay. By following through with this ambitious project, we've overcome many obstacles and we thank Distinctive Domain for being with us every step of the way. It has been a fun challenge and we wouldn't hesitate to work with them again.

My wife and I couldn.t be happier, we are now half way complete with our new home and think Distinctive Domain has done a fabulous job. Dan was spot on with pricing, he explained the financial process and has keep us up to date. Jim is the builder, he is so nice. He customized our home to fit our lifestyle. His knowledge base of the industry is endless. Pati is our designer supplied by Distinctive Domain, which none of the other builders we interviewed offered has made the process so easy. She is great with color and has made the selection process a pleasure. Distinctive Domain really took the time to understand our needs - and constraints - to build a home that we could all be proud of. Pati, Jim, Dan and our on-site PM Mike, very quickly became a part of our extended family. They took a vested interest in the design (architecturally and aesthetically - flow/materials/colors/lighting/etc.), helping to enhance or offer alternatives that remained budget-friendly. When challenges arose, Distinctive Domain operated in a very solution-oriented, professional, and transparent manner. We have built a custom home once before, but nothing compared to our experience with Distinctive Domain. Jim and Pati Brenn are a pleasure to work with. Everyone warned us that building custom is a nightmare, but they always make it interestjng and fun. These builders take pride in there work and it shows. We have about 4 more months to go before completion, but we already know the results are going to me amazing.

After an exhaustive search encompassing both old and new houses in Warren, Watchung and Basking Ridge, we finally bought our home from Distinctive Domain in Warren in Nov 2018. The house was in final stages of construction and Jim and Dan made the process very smooth. They maintained scheduled timelines and we were able to meet all our deadlines. They are very professional and were always available to answer our questions and concerns. The house is well planned and constructed. The appliances are of high quality and as promised the house is energy efficient. We are also very pleased with the craftsmanship and the attention to detail. Distinctive Domain built me a small ranch house, took the job from design to completion. The quality was spot on, Dan and Jim were a pleasure to work with.

Disappointed after buying one of their custom homes 6 years ago. Did not live up contract terms with additional items at the time of closing. After living here for several years many of the “cheap” things have caused higher maintenance cost. We live next door to several of the other houses and it’s been the same experience.

Distinctive built our custom home. They worked with us from the start - purchasing lot through design and build. They were extremely professional and the quality of the work is extraordinary. Just walk in my house or any of their projects and you will immediately see and feel the quality of the work. You will not find a better built home. The finished product is exceptional. They kept us informed and helped us every step of the way. They guided us during the selection process and helped us decide where we could save money and where it made sense to upgrade. This is a family business with people that care about building a great house and making sure the customer is satisfied with the finished product. Jim has been building houses for years. He is a true craftsman and his insight and advice are invaluable. We worked with Pati on design - tile selection, siding, flooring, fixtures, paint colors etc. She worked tirelessly to find what we wanted while keeping us within our budget. He clearly defined the cost structure, payment schedule and dealt with all other miscellaneous items that popped up - his input and guidance was top notch. As a company they were always available to sit with us and address any issues or concerns that arose. They are fair and most importantly honest. I cannot say enough about the work and professionalism of Distinctive Domain. We sold our previous home and moved into our new home, built by Distinctive Domain, in the same day. On a day that could have been extremely stressful, Dan and Jim were unbelievably accommodating. The work they do is unlike any house we had come across in our months of house hunting. In fact, our lawyer stated that "she hasn't seen work like this in a long time" and couldn't believe how clean our home inspection came back. Dan, Jim and Owen built the home we now live in. The craftsmanship in the home is beautiful, and we truly believe that Distinctive Domain homes are extremely well built. When we purchased the home, they had already completed it with no buyer. The attention to detail is amazing, the finishes they chose very high end. Dan and Jim are a pleasure to work with; delivered true to their word and to our contract; very professional in design-build management and in the construction itself. We hired the firm after reviewing some of their other works for a $700k+ project - complete demolition of our existing house and a full 4100sq ft build. Our 5 year old townhouse, originally built by Distinctive Domain in Lavallette, NJ suffered the ravages of Hurricane Sandy and had to be rebuilt. We were so pleased with the quality and workmanship of the original structure that we re-hired them to rebuild it and return it to us as it was when we first purchased it. Once again, the quality and workmanship was above reproach, with much attention given to detail. Of equal importance was the personal attention we received. They were always readily available to address any questions or concerns. Our permanent home is several hours away from our townhouse, but they gave us e-mail updates on a regular basis on their progress and they completed the project on schedule.
