Anita has completed a beautiful plan for our new home in Mt. pleasant. She listened to our ideas and put them into her final plans. She worked well with our builder and with our community architecture review board to satisfy the requirements without incurring multiple modifications. We have enjoyed working with her upbeat personality and she continues to show interest throughout the building process.

My husband and I hired Anita King (Ink Architecture) to draw the exterior portion of our project (I'm and interior designer) and we worked well together. She was to do the exterior elevations, roof sloops and all load-baring details of our multi-million dollar project outside of Charleston.
However, our project was soon delayed by several months due to the inability to sell our existing home in a timely fashion. Once we were finally under contract, and were ready to put the finishing touches on the plans, Ms. King was disinterested in finishing our project. I might add that we had already paid in full for her services! After further review of the plans she did submit, (10 pages for a 7,000 SF home) we found gross errors in window and door placements, and incomplete details and elevations. She finally subcontracted another architect to finish the drawings.
Now we find out that she is using images of our finished home on her website and this site, touting her design without our permission or our knowledge. Unacceptable!

Comentario de Ink Architecture + Interiors:
I'm so sorry you are unhappy with the results of your beautiful 7000 sf house that I designed. According to our contract, ink Architecture LLC was responsible for the design of the exterior of your home and would employ a SC registered structural engineer to provide structural drawings.
The drawings were completed and sent to the Daniel Island Architectural Review Board and were successfully approved for Conceptual, Preliminary and Final Review. The drawings were permitted through the City of Charleston with me, Anita King, AIA, LEED AP of ink Architecture LLC, as the Architect of Record.
After the drawings were 90% complete, you authorized the structural engineer to complete his portion of the work. After that milestone, you requested additional services that significantly changed the the location of bearing walls, structural beams, deck and pool changes, dimensional changes and changes in materials that resulted in additional coordination and drawing time. You withheld payment for those services, even though I was charging for only 14 hours of time and those were far fewer hours than it actually took to complete the request. At that time, the remainder of the architecture drawings were completed for permitting and construction. Eventually, you paid the final invoice and our contractual obligations were complete.
The structural engineer provided an estimate to complete the changes to his drawings as well and you chose to proceed with a different engineer rather than pay additional services for the changes you requested. I understand you decided to make additional minor changes during construction and I granted a consultant of mine access to those CAD files and drawings to complete those changes outside of my contract. Additionally, I believe you chose to employ a different landscape plan than that of the Landscape Architect. And, then, last but not least, you had some kind of conflict with the contractor you chose and proceeded with yet another contractor to finish the house.
Whew! That's a lot of changes with a lot of professionals! Incidentally, I still have great relationships with each of those consultants and each of them have helped fulfilled many of my clients' dreams for their perfect home. I'm sorry the collective team of highly regarded professionals were not able to meet your expectations.
Until you disputed that you were creating significant changes to the plans that actually caused additional time and work, we did indeed have a good working relationship. You even wrote a review for my previous website that said in full, "When my husband and I bought a piece of property, we were struck by the insurmountable options which varied from hiring a licensed architect to a ‘home designer’. Once we met Anita, the decision was made easy. Anita King listened to my thoughts and agreed to work along with me: An interior designer who has strong opinions. She had innovative and interesting ideas which only enhanced my own and together, we created my dream home; one that my husband and I plan on living happily in for many years to come." - Michele Kenney, IIDA, IDEC, NCIDQ, Registered Interior Designer & Client
I'm so sorry that you don't like that I have taken photographs of the house that I designed, but per our AIA B151 contract, Article 9, section 9.9, "The Architect shall have the right to include photographic or artistic representations of the design of the Project among the Architect's promotional and professional materials. The Architect shall be given reasonable access to the completed Project to make sure representations. However, the Architect's materials shall not include the Owner's confidential or proprietary information if the Owner has previously advised the Architect in writing of the specific information considered by the Owner to be confidential or proprietary, The Owner shall provide professional credit for the Architect in the Owner's professional materials for the project."
It's unfortunate that you've taken such a negative approach to what turned out to be a beautiful house.

We are very pleased with our home designed by INK architecture. Anita listened and did a wonderful job making the house visually pleasing while working in the constraints of our awkwardly shaped lot. She also has the ability to add that woman's touch making the house convenient for the busy lifestyle of today's working mom.
We did have some problems with the stair design in the house but nothing that couldn't be fixed with a little collaboration between builder and architect.

Ms Anita King, Ink Architecture, was referred to me, thankfully.
She and her team designed a marsh front house for me in Mt. Pleasant, SC on a lot I had acquired 2 years ago. She listened well to my ramblings about layout, design basics, needs for 10 years hence and current desires. She interfaced with the architectural review committee for my neighborhood, suggested builders with whom she had experience, introduced me to landscape architect, along with other vendors and explained all technical aspects.
All her work resulted in a stellar design that was perfect for me. All was done at a reasonable cost.
