Fantastic experience. We will use them for every future project that they can do. They remodeled our bathroom after some water damage - on time, within 2% of the quote, and super high quality and value. The communication was consistently good throughout (my experience with other contractors is that the communication tends to nosedive after you pay the first deposit) and the project required very little active management from us. The workers were all as polite, professional, and non-intrusive as possible.

Oh my gosh this was an amazing experience. I am a commercial customer that had a space that needed renovating . The space was very dull and was not ready to move in. I had 3 to 4 vendors that we had hired to do the work. Even though I had the vision in my mind I wanted to give the vendors an actual picture of what they were going to create. I hired Shepel Homes to do the design work. I spent a few hours only with their designer and we had a working model within a short period of time. We took the drawing right down the the direction of the laminate boards on the floor. Having the 3d layout I was able to hand that to the vendors and the room turned out exactly how I envisioned it. I am a design professional and had an opportunity to work with this builder company on a big build/remodel job in Woodinville. The project was a challenging one, we'd remove and rebuild a third of the house (correcting multiple problems existing structure had along the way.) The preparations/permits along took a tremendous amount of time, we had to fire an architect..... Shepel Homes company was professional and involved from the very beginning. They went out of their ways to ensure that the project went as planned, on time and on budget. They even helped to pull permits unrelated to their area of involvement, just to ensure the smooth process. This company is a family owned business with two brothers and a father working together, I had an opportunity to interact with all of them and can say that this family is a pleasure to do business with. They are prompt, reliable, and very knowledgeable, the company employs good contractors and subs, so the quality of the installation is great. Will highly recommend.

We hired Shepel Homes to help us do an extensive renovation involving completely overhauling the kitchen, tearing down a wall, creating a new room, and installing extensive new lighting and bookshelf walls. Daniel, Philip, and Peter far exceeded our expectations and we would work with them again without hesitation. Some of the things that stood out to us: 1) Complete transparency and customer-focus: When soliciting quotes, they were the only contractor to scope the job and respond within a few days with an itemized quote and timeline. Many "ghosted" us while some delivered obviously low-quotes (probably to-be-revised upwards) or absurdly high-quotes (likely as a polite "this job is too small"). None others offered an itemized quote. 2) Prompt and continuous communication: We set up a Google-Doc where we were able to coordinate expectations for both parties to ensure the project progressed on timeline. Philip provided clear timelines when we needed appliances and other goods delivered while also making sure we understood when decisions needed to be made. We also received roughly weekly updates about progress which helped reconcile the monthly invoices. Any issues discovered we were briefed and clearly given choices along with pros-and-cons. Philip was also available by phone which was particularly valuable in some cases where a decision needed to be made quickly. 3) Strict adherence to timeline and cost: While this was a concern for our first remodel, the Shepels were transparent about costs and timeline and stuck to both religiously. Changes were handled professionally and quoted fairly as described below. 4) Attention to detail and pride in workmanship: Details that we hadn't originally thought of, Philip was instrumental in thinking through before-hand and providing us with his suggestions along with rationale. During the actual renovation, we also received feedback from Philip about certain design decisions that we hadn't thought about or hadn't thought were important. Philip and his team however had a level of ownership in their work that they often supplemented our decisions "to make sure things were done right" with no impact to cost. 5) Change-order transparency and signoff: During construction, changes are inevitable and how the contractor handles those changes are important. The Shepels were again transparent about issues that arose and the cost associated with taking different approaches. They were always respectful of ensuring the timeline and cost wouldn't be too affected, and in many cases we felt comfortable choosing based on our preference rather than feeling pressured. Changes NEVER occurred without our explicit signoff and the changes were priced fairly. Overall, we would not hesitate to work with the Shepels again. They quote fair prices for their work and the level of ownership they show in their work shows in the final product. Even after the engagement had completed, the Shepels have been available to help us with questions and minor tweaks. Their total focus on the customer and their honest approach towards the construction/remodel process helped make this remodel basically pain-free. The Shepel family was referred to us about 8 years ago from a friend. They have remodeled and upgraded 3 bathrooms, kitchen cabnets, and miscellaneous upgrades for us. They pay attention to detail, keep the work area clean and complete the work in a timely manor. We continue to recommend them to our friends. Hired Shepel Homes to install new baseboard trim throughout our 1800 sq/f house. They where very quick and professional. The install itself was top notch, but cost was extremely high (reason for 4-stars).

Peter, Philip and Daniel were amazing to work with! They were professional, knowledgeable and personable. We hired the Shepels - Peter, Phillip & Daniel - on the recommendation of another contractor, and could not be happier with the quality of their work, their professionalism and pleasant demeanor. They took a bare, basement room and turned it into a lovely living room off our west-side patio in a very short time: new Pergo flooring; drywall and trim; priming, painting and putting in a new threshold for our French doors to the outside.
