I have used Dee Thornton of Houseworks Interiors for numerous jobs over the last two decades. In the most recent job, Dee designed updates for my kitchen, and bathroom, designed a top floor suite for guests, and worked with the architect and builder to make a family room addition become "the place to be" in our home. Houseworks provided the knowhow for design and purchasing for my two projects oer three years. I did a complete renew of the first floor (living and dining room) and then a total renew of the upstairs 3 bedrooms. People are thrilled when they step into my house and see the beautiful "zen" interior. Dee Thornton is a person who can figure out exactly what the client will like-even if the clienet is unclear. I have seen her work in 3/4 other homes as well as design houses, and she can do any style. Nothing looks "designerey" but it all works. Also very good with budgeting and identifying possible cost savings. She has an excellent eye. I have recommened her to friends and they have been enthusiastic. It is unusual to find someone who combines flexibilitly with design quality, but that describes Dee.

We hired Houseworks Interiors to help us with interior decoration of our home as we took on an extensive two floor renovation. Houseworks Interiors helped in the design of the interior spaces from the reception of the architect's initial proposal, through the building process until the finishing touches of sofa and bed pillows. We were very pleased that our aesthetic preferences were taken into consideration but considerately modified when their way made more sense. Now, five years later, those decisions in which we disagreed with Houseworks Interiors and insisted on "our way" have proven insufficient and we need to have them "redo it" to their original suggestions which we intend to do later this year.

Dee helped us completely decorate our home. We had to do extensive renovations and she also helped us decide about lighting and even planned our furniture placement with the architect. My husband & I found Dee so easy to work with and she made our house a true reflection of our tastes. At the time our children were small and she was able to give us a look that both welcomed children and pets but has continued to look really amazing now after almost 15 years. I can highly recommend Dee and her team. She has continued to help me from time to time on a number issues. Dee's work is distinctive but always tailored to the client. She listens to you but also tempers your ideas to come up with something really special. Using a decorator is not cheap but in the end I really think she saved us money by not letting us make mistakes and helping us buy quality. The proof is 15 years later my house still looks current. I loved working with Dee and hope to have her help me again in my next house.

Dee Thornton is an amazing and talented decorator. She redecorated my living room and dining room using most of my furniture but introducing wonderful new colors. She also stayed within my budget. I have worked with Dee Thorton and her Houseworks team since 2001. Dee is an extraordinarily talented designer, with particular skill in listening to the client and clarifying preferences. Lighting and window treatments are two specialties. Her affiliated subcontractors and galleries are artisan-quality, clean and deliver on-time. Dee's team oversees all demolition, painting and installations. Our prior World War II home in Alexandria sold in 48 hours, due in large measure to the beautiful way Dee utilized space and designed our interior. Last, she is patient.
