Adcock-Smith Design is a boutique interior design studio that serves busy time stressed professionals who need unique, healthy and visionary solutions for their environment. These solutions will fit their lifestyle or brand image. What separates my services from others is my resourceful and creative design approach that meets their physical and financial needs. More about Kathy: As a young girl, I enjoyed the process of home building and my grandfather and father’s wood craftsmanship. I loved the smell of sawdust! It became a symbol of something new, a change, or a re-purposing of something outmoded. That scent tantalizes me still. Sawdust indirectly brought me to University of North Texas where I earned a BFA degree in Interior Design, and a double minor in Industrial Arts/Business, graduating cum laude. I am a registered interior designer and a professional member of the American Society of Interior Designers. While it is rare to obtain a degree, work in that chosen field, (for over forty years) and love that life’s work, I am that rarity! It is a daily privilege to work with my clients to accomplish good design solutions. My work covers the spectrum of high rise condos, new residences, and complete residential; including kitchen and bath design, as well as corporate offices. My abilities/attributes include seeing the big picture, having an eye for detail, providing good client communication and follow through to completion. Each project is carefully crafted to suit the requirements, lifestyles and desires of each client, resulting in meticulously scaled and detailed interiors that are a delight to experience and a joy in which to live and work. Inspirations: an element or an image – from nature, from architecture, from art, from a movie or publication, or sometimes, just something I catch “out of the corner of my eye”. New images/ideas spring into my mind. The idea is adapted, is refined, and then, a solution to a design problem is created; a spontaneous and intuitive inspiration.
