We regret not being afforded the opportunity to fix mistakes that we may have made during a repair. This is the first we are hearing of it. All materials are approved by property owners prior to installation. Some bricks are no longer in production, therefore we match them as close as possible. Typically we offer homeowners several options. Replacement of existing masonry, new construction out of brick or stone. Situations do arise due to budget constraints homeowners insist on repairs when steps should be replaced. We work very closely with homeowners to meet their objectives. Sometimes steps or masonry are beyond repair and will never look new due to structural failures and heaving. We are then left with the task of making the structure safe for foot traffic beyond aesthetics. Mortar does not simply fail on steps with out the use of ice melt chemicals which is often unavoidable by property owners in our Massachusetts climate.
