Plantswoman Design is a design build firm. This means we offer design services and installation of all aspects of the design. From plants to pathways, irrigation to stone work we can build it. Plantswoman Design is a licensed bonded contractor, certified by two professional landscape associations, WALP and WSNLA. We continue to keep up on the latest innovations and green gardening principals. Plantswoman is a term that means someone with a passion for plants and their cultivation. We bring plants to the spotlight introducing the noteworthy and unusual to the garden insuring that each design has a uniqueness that out shines the ordinary. Our skilled staff has been featured in how to books from Sunset Magazine and our work has been featured in many national and local publications. After completion we continue to be involved in many of the gardens we create. We help prepare for weddings, garden tours, and family events, and offer weekly maintenance of these beautiful spaces.

Susan completed my project in 2019. It took a year, but the plants have now filled in nicely. I'm especially happy with the ground covers.

Every effort has been made to make Kris happy. We have given her free plants, extra clean up of walk, and free labor to re make this gravel pathway to her exact specifications (this picture is before it was finished). I offered to replace any missing plants, she claims more than 100 but no response when I requested specifics. All plants are guaranteed for 1 year, when under irrigation, no request for replacements has been received. We were under budget and done in the exact time frame given. She did not respond to emails, text, phone calls, or letters (in fact refused to accept). After 60 days of no payment I sent her a 10 day demand letter. Litigation is not allowed under the contract we have.

Susan and her client purchased an ofuro from Zen Bathworks for an outdoor installation. Susan was wonderful to work with, attentive to details, and expertly representing her client's interests . It was evident working with Susan she loves what she does and is very skilled in her work. We look forward to collaborating with her on her next project.

I am a real estate professional who has long admired this company's work on various projects at various budget levels, including million-dollar-plus properties that I have been fortunate enough to sell. As a matter of fact, I hired this company to landscape my own home--with wonderful results! Hardly a week goes by without someone stopping to admire our plantings and sometimes inquire about the plant names. The company's owner, Susan Calhoun, is an artist with plants! She has a vast knowledge of everything that grows and how and where it should be displayed. Bottom line: Plantswoman Design adds value, as well as beauty, to residential and commercial properties.

Susan Calhoun of Plantswoman Design did the landscape design and installation for our beach home in Hansville Washington. Susan really listened to us and guided us through the whole process. She and her team were creative, efficient and really fun to work with. We highly recommend Susan Calhoun and Plantswoman Design. Christy & Rick Mackey

I had had a patio renovation designed and needed to find someone who could do the installation. That's how I found Susan. Her bid came in in between the two other bids obtained - so a fair price. My project included a stone patio, dry laid stone walls, irrigation and lighting. I knew from our first meeting that she would be my choice. Susan can talk PLANTS!! And if you are a true gardener you will appreciate her knowledge, enthusiasm for gardening and unerring sense of design. I could not be happier with how the project turned out. In fact, I loved it so much I expanded the scope of my project and have already had her put together a design for the rest of my yard.

In 2010 I thought I needed a moat/ril but after digging and lining, it wasn't really coming together. I was given Plantswoman Design's number by someone I consulted with for the liner problem. At my first consultation I told her if my idea was just too harebrained to say so and I would fill it in, but luckily she liked the idea! It was a two year process, as I couldn't mentally handle the entire project at once. It is now 2 years post-planting and the garden looks fantastic. My backyard is my view and it is amazing 12 months of the year.
