This person and his company got me in big trouble with the village I live in. Michael specifically told to me that a permit would not be required to construct a retaining wall and steps and constructed same without a permit. Additionally, Michael constructed the wall in violation of the village code by constructing it too close to the property line, which now needs a retroactive variance. As a result, I was cited by the village and had to go to the village court. Nearly a year later since construction completed, I am still trying to legalize what Michael did. Michael and his company's actions cost me over $10,000 in fees, penalties, and corrective work. I would not recommend this person and company to my worst enemy.

It saddens me to write this review because I initially liked Mike. His crew's work is fine. Aside from that, my experience with Mike recently has led me to follow-through and share this description. Retrospectively, I learned the hard way that Mike spent time building my trust and then when the opportunity presented itself, he will took my money and ran. Makes me sad! Let me start this story by saying Mike and his crew installed a patio in my backyard in 2020. The project went fine...not perfect, but fine. So, I reached out to him again for another project in my front yard in the summer of 2022. I contracted with Mike to complete a renovation of my front porch and walkway. I provided a VERY sizable deposit in cash. I even provided more than what he asked because I was going to the bank and didn't want to go back and forth several times. Mistake on my part. The plan included demo of my front stoop and construction of a new front patio and walkway. Well, his crew did a partial demo of the front stoop...and that is it. After the 1-day partial demo, I could not get Mike back to the job site. He totally ignored me. I made several attempts to reach Mike by phone, email, and text. Left voicemails. I had my architect and contractor call and text Mike too. Knowing who they were, Mike ignored them as well. I asked the person who referred me to Mike, a family member who is also in the home improvement business, to try and make contact. Still, Mike ignored him. This process played out over several weeks, and eventually, we had to move onto another mason as the winter was coming and we couldn't wait anymore. But Mike had taken the cash and completed only a fraction of what my deposit covered. Several more weeks passed before I found the time to think about Mike and the $ I lost because of him. My thought was that I can't go after him legally to return my deposit, as it would cost me more in legal fees and headaches. So, I reached out to Mike one last time in the late fall 2022 to let him know I would share the description of my experience wherever across various websites if he didn't respond. Didn't think that would motivate him to respond but guess what? Mike finally responded. He apologized and so I gave him an opportunity to send me repayment and that I would hold off on my review for about a week. He wrote back to me the following "Your a good and don't deserve a letdown like this from me. Your trust in me was amazing. The let down is shameful." I felt badly for Mike and was optimistic he would do the right thing and return my $1000s of deposit. Unfortunately, its several weeks went by and still no repayment. For any potential homeowners who wants to use Morell Landscaping, do what you want with this information...but I will never use Mike or his crew ever again. Nor would I recommend him to my neighbor or friends.

Michael and his team did a fantastic job transforming our drab yard into an amazing tapestry of colors, textures and fragances. He is easy to work with, hands on, and responded quickly whenever we had a question. We are very happy with the results which exceeded our expectations. Thanks Michael!

We hired Morell Landscape Associates for a fairly complex and challenging landscaping job. There were significant access issues to contend with, along with a steep sloping backyard that required solutions tied to proper drainage, the building of multiple retaining walls, installation of a dry well and the removal of existing large trees, etc. In addition, we did not want a traditional lawn in the front and asked for a creative solution. Mike and his team worked over the course of almost two years, interrupted by the pandemic, to achieve what is now a beautifully landscaped front, side and backyard full of new trees and hedges, perennials and grasses, an attractive new driveway and gorgeous bluestone pathway, along with a new lighting and sprinkler system. A large and contemporary deck has also added a beautiful outdoor living space. Mike, the owner of the company, was actively involved in the entire process. We found it important to ask a lot of questions upfront and throughout the project to ensure we understood all of our options. When things didn’t go as planned (e.g., mother nature did a job on a few new trees over the winter months), Mike and his team replaced them without question. We are now enjoying watching the landscape design unfold with a variety of colors and well thought out blossoms complimenting one another each month. Very much looking forward to see what the rest of the summer brings, along with future seasons. Side note: Mike has a great team of dedicated and very hard working guys who we came to know and trust —not a small thing when sharing a home and yard for a time!

Mike and his team are true professionals- I would highly recommend them to anyone. I bought a new home over the summer and needed to landscape my entire property. I wasn't sure exactly what I was looking for but I knew I needed to pretty up my property. Mike had a great vision, gave me great recommendations based on my budget, and was all overall pleasure to deal with. He answered all the questions my wife and I had, and was always available by phone or email. He didn't try to over-sell me and I appreciated his honesty. His team was super nice and professional when they were at my home. They showed up when they said they would and worked very hard each day. Mike Morell is an honest and talented horticulturalist. He transformed my backyard into a garden of Eden oasis. The bluestone bilevel patio he installed is visionary. Then he surrounded it with a variety of planting’s so that there is always a burst of color. His men were very professional and very neat. I would highly recommend this company for any stone work or landscaping needs.

My wife and I recently hired Morell Landscape Associates to design and install a landscape in the rear of our property. After going through a major renovation on our home in Plandome that had way to many ups and downs, we did our due diligence and found Morell L.A. We met with the owner, not a salesman, who came up with a design for us. Very impressed at his knowledge of Horticulture and Portfolio of projects, we decided to move forward with Mike. He took control of the project, bringing with him his irrigation contractor Pacific. The job was started and finished with not a glitch along the way. Totally, headache free. Basically, the quality of the plant material and attention to detail was way beyond our expectations. We got a lot of value for the money we spent. When we found out he also did masonry in house, we immediately asked him to redesign our front entrance with a new parking court and planting. Picture Perfect in Plandome. No Tylenol required!

Just had my front and backyard completely done over by Morelli Landscape. Mike came to the house to draw the new design. Then not even a week later they came in and planted all of the trees and bushes. They variety of plants were amazing and beautiful. Mike explained in detail all the types of plants and when they bloom. This guy knows his stuff about landscaping. Also, they came back another day and finished laying the sod. It was a big job and they were in and out in three days. I was extremely impressed with how professional the crew was and how neat they were. Definitely recommend them.
