Columbine Fine Landscape Gardening and Design

I used Roberta's team at Columbine Fine Landscape Gardening and Design for my own home in Litchfield County. We were thrilled with them and the process. They gave us beautiful concepts and plans for our 90 ft woodland garden and carried them out perfectly right through installation. Very professional and responsive to our suggestions. Roberta and the team were mindful of the conditions of our property and the weird little micro-climate we reside in. During installation they looked like they were having so much fun I asked to join in and they taught me some great skills and pearls of wisdom. I highly recommend them and will continue to use them.

Columbine is truly the BEST landscape design team by leaps and bounds. They took the time to completely understand us - who we are, our vision. They made the process fun and exciting. We have numerous compliments on our landscaping, particularly the pots they planted for us. People leave notes in our mailbox! Exceptional work, exceptional people. After a 2 + year renovation of an historic Hudson Valley home, it was time to turn to landscaping the property and transforming a neglected garden into an oasis of color and calm. Roberta combines an incredible knowledge and sensitivity to the natural world with an amazing ability to intuit and interpret her clients’ vision. Our collaboration over these last two years has been a true joy. I said I wanted a purple and white garden? She delivered. I showed her a picture of a hedgerow of boxwoods to separate the house from the pool, this talented woman found the perfect sized boxwoods and talked me out of making them a hedge, but leaving them to adorn in their natural state. When we were perplexed about what to do with our 90-year old specimen trees, she brought in an arborist to assess their condition. The delight we take in our gardens and property has been enhanced exponentially by Roberta. I can’t recommend her more highly.

I hired the Columbine team to create three gardens in my backyard. They listened carefully to my wishes -- I wanted low maintenance but plenty of color -- and they were able to give me a nearly 100 percent perennial gardens that, nevertheless gave me plenty of color throughout the growing season. I was impressed by the expertise of their crew. They knew I wanted to keep costs down and they were very flexible about that. Their care and expertise resulted in beautiful landscaping and lots of compliments from our friends who invariably ask, "Who made these gardens?"

We have enjoyed quite a few years of successfully working with Roberta and her outstanding and talented team. Each year the plantings look better and better and after spending so much time these last months in and around our home -- it's a pleasure to look out the window as well as sit among the gorgeous flowers. Roberta was a huge help to me in my yard, specifically with helping me layer the edges of my lawn with native shrubs to attract pollinators. Roberta serves as a consultant to the Pollinator Pathway, and is an invaluable resource when it comes to ideas for planting beautiful landscapes that also serve our local birds, bees, and other wildlife. She is the best.
