We recently used AJM Landscape Design sevices for our frontyard. Being at the top side of a court, we have a tiny frontyard and wanted to refigure the L-shaped pathway from the driveway to the front door, replace the grass and add plantings. Anthony was very open to all our ideas and created/fine tuned a beautiful, detailed landscape design that we love at a very reasonable price. We highly recommend him!

We experiencd several stops and starts in trying to get our new front yard landscaping projecrt going. Anthony did a real good job in taking our vision of what we wanted and developed a landscape design that was exactly what we envisioned. My husband and I are very pleased with the interaction and results working with AJM Landscape Design Studio. We really appreciated the professionalism of Mr. McClendon, who was one of three landscape design firms offering to quote on the work. Our yard is small so we had some difficulty locating firms will to meet with us. Each of the three firms that offered to work with us had set a time to meet: one showed up late and hurried through the review, another missed the appointment and called later asking to reschedule, and lastly, AJM Landscape that arrived slight ahead of the appointed time and spent as much time as it took to respond to our ideas and thoughts about how we hoped to have our yard designed. AJM Landscape was very knowledgeable about plant species, understood our interest in native plants and plantings to attract bees, butterflies and hummingbirds. AJM Landscape offered very thoughtful and useful alternatives and insights about our yard, including movement of the sun and how much sun we would need for the plants of interest to us. I should add that it was extremely helpful that AJM Landscape had experience working with clients that must get approvals from an HOA Board. AJM Landscape immediately asked for the CC&Rs and HOA guidelines. AJM Landscape provided excellent deliverables, preliminaries and final at reasonable costs and on time. Revision were made when requested. The overall experience for us was very satisfying and we are certain that we have a design that will make our yard esthetically pleasing. And, it goes without saying that Mr. McClendon was very personable and a pleasure to work with and know. We highly recommend the work of AJM Landscape Design Studio.

In process to define and design what I wanted for my backyard to turn into, Anthony was able to make this experience much more pleasant than I thought it would be. As I didn't have the vision into what it could be, he was able to come onsite and do initial measurements, collaborate through a Pinterest interest board, and start to get the renders built. Right off the bat it would be a transformational project from the depressing state the yard is currently in, but also allow for me to get an idea into the scope the implement would be like. I enjoy how Anthony just does design work, but also knows how the yard should look/feel while also providing recommendations for local vendor/contractors to fulfill the components that will make up your project. Now I can take the plans and seek out bids with those in the area, to make it a reality. I very much enjoyed the thoroughness of the process and collaboration that Anthony was able to provide.

Anthony designed our full back yard remodel, including pool, fire-pit, deck, fireplace, hot tub placement, outdoor living room and plant selection and placement. Anthony is professional, detail oriented, easy to work with, responsive and very knowledgeable on plants. He took our ideas and come up with a beautiful plan and was able explain the reasoning why he placed hardscape/plants-cape where he did. He was also amendable to our changes and incorporated them without hesitation. We can't wait to start our backyard this summer and plan on hiring Anthony again to complete our front yard.

It was so fun to work with Anthony on my landscaping plan. He's a good listener and made a lot of great suggestions based on my love for Japanese, tropical, and drought-resistant styles. The homework -- looking at concrete finishes, stones, gravel, pots, fountains, etc. -- was fun, too. Anthony was very responsive and easy to work with. I had never used a landscape designer before and didn't really know what to expect. As I started to meet with different designers, I found that Anthony with AJM Landscape Design Studio was willing to discuss some of his ideas at our initial meeting, which most designers would not do until I committed to using them. While I understood why designers in theory did this, this didn't really make sense if I was trying to get a feel for who I would fit best with. I also appreciated that Anthony sat down with me at our first visit and explained his process, gave an example timeline, and helped me understand the next steps and what he would need from me. Through the entire process Anthony allowed me to make changes and encouraged me to be honest about what I did and did not like, reminding me that this was my backyard and that I needed to like every element of it. Anthony also kept in touch and kept me apprised of where he was in the design process; I found this extremely refreshing because these days communication and updates to clients seems to be lacking in the home improvement field as well as others. Lastly, Anthony brought things to my attention that I had not thought about and created a beautiful design that I cannot wait to implement. Unfortunately, due to contractors being so busy, I will probably have to wait until next spring to see the design come to life...but I can't wait!! I should also mention, Anthony can provide a 3d animation of his design which provides a life-like rendering of his design rather than just having to imagine from a 2d drawing. I suggest getting the 3d animation if possible; it's amazing. I highly recommend anyone looking for a landscape designer to reach out to Anthony and have a conversation with him; I don't think you will regret it.

We really needed help updating our backyard. The space lacked shade and needed color. We also purchased a hot tub, and wanted a way to "hide" it in the yard. Anthony created a design which provides a beautiful combination of heat-tolerant flowers and plants that I know we can maintain. His design tied seamlessly with our existing area. He was a great communicator about a timeline. We will definitely be using Anthony for the front yard at some point. I will have to update this post with photos after everything is planted. My wife and I finally decided to engage in a major renovation of our tired front yard. After completing a significant amount of research, we decided to go with Anthony for the design portion. Anthony was great to work with. After we had our inital meeting we received our first plans. We made changes a few times and after all the back and forth he would always go over it with us to make sure we liked it or gauge our interest in changing something further. He was very helpful with picking out plants and provided some good recommendations on what to check out ahead of time. Each and every landscaping company that has seen the design has said this is really going to be a great yard and we are looking forward to it to come to life.

He does a great job of listening to and redacting your ideas and instead of just forcing his vision on your space like some designers do. I found him extremely knowledgeable and he included just the right plants for our space in our design. We made an appointment and are so glad we did! Anthony is friendly, easy to work with and knowledgeable. He incorporated our ideas with his suggestions and provided a preliminary video and blueprint which included plants, bushes, trees, fences, stone and fountain features. We made adjustments after following his suggestion of visiting local nurseries, stone and gravel companies and a pottery and fountain store. We then received a revised video and blueprints for the landscape adjustments. This process took five months due to us completing other priority home improvements. Anthony was patient, understanding and provided us with a stress free experience. We highly recommend him and his services.

We hired AJM to design the planting area of our backyard. It was a new build so we were in need of guidance and this we received. Anthony was extremely helpful and had an understanding of what we wanted...even though we were struggling. ALM re-designed my front yard ravaged from the drought. The design was exactly what I envisioned from hardscape, plants to being more drought tolerant. If you're in the market for a landscape designer, look no further! We hired Anthony to design our backyard. We moved into a new construction home with nothing in the backyard but dirt. Our backyard is also very large and odd shaped so we needed help in coming up with a plan for our young family. We are installing our backyard in stages and will eventually install a pool. In the mean time we wanted a plan that would work for us now and then be able to incorporate a pool in the future. Anthony gave us an amazing design for short term and then a design for our final project Anthony is top notch in professionalism. He says what he does and does what he says. He is extremely knowledgeable about design aspects, plants, building materials, and the landscape industry. You also can't beat his fee. We researched other designers in the Sacramento area and his fee was half of what other designers were charging. Anthony also collaborates with his clients more than the other designers do. We had an initial consult. Then a preliminary meeting where you get to see a rough design. A third meeting to go over any changes you may want to make and pick the final materials. And then the final meeting where you get the final design. In our case we got a short term design and then the final design. The designers we researched only met with you 3 times. The choice for us was really a no brainer. Can't wait to see our backyard when it is all finally installed because the computer animated drafts look incredible!

This is the first time we’ve ever hired someone to design a landscape plan and I’m sure glad I found AJM Landscape Design Studio. Anthony was great to work with. I'm having an in-ground pool and deck installed in my backyard. I'm not ready to fully landscape the entire yard, but I want to put in all of the hardscape at the same time as the pool/deck (e.g., walkways, concrete pads, an extra patio off the master bedroom, etc.). I needed a design for use in gathering bids and working with potential concrete contractors. Anthony met with me to view the property and get my general vision. He came back a second time to verify measurements and take photographs. In about two weeks, he had a draft design that he went over with me. His plan helped me see how best to allocate my property into functional zones. I think we identified about a dozen minor changes that needed to be made. Soon after, we met again to go over the revised plan. Our expectation was that some final tweaking would be needed before a final product was ready. Instead, I had the pleasure of telling him that his plan was exactly what I wanted and needed. I've managed a lot of contracts, and I can't recall ever saying that before. I've already used the design to collect bids on concrete work. It has really helped me to visualize the completed backyard remodel. On another note, when you're already spending a fortune on a backyard remodel, you don't want to spend another fortune on a design. You need a good design for a good price. Anthony's proposed cost was less than one-fourth that of another designer, yet his work product was superb and it exactly suited my needs. It was a pleasure working with him -- and I intend to hire him again to help prepare the design for a front yard remodel.
