I consider myself a wood artist. My goal is to take woodworking, be it a barn door, kitchen table, or a turned pen and make it a functional art piece. I also am always on the search for vintage items that I can transform into something new, beautiful, and functional. And I have found a love for the lathe where I turn wood to make spheres, bowls, and plates. I’m mainly known for my custom furniture and barn doors. I can create modern to rustic to shabby chic. I am proud of the fact that my family is included in this business in almost every aspect. My wife and girls go with me to install pieces I’ve made for a client. We all get to interact with the clients and share life, not just deliver a piece. My family inspires me and encourages me to keep going when I begin to doubt that I can continue to make this dream happen. My hope is that I get to inspire the next generation. I not only know how to work with wood or how to upcycle vintage items, but I bring creativity that makes the furniture, barn doors, or whatever I’m building into functional art. My creativity also flows out in trying to problem solve space issues. When a client asks for a functional laundry folding table, I not only see the laundry table, but a piece of art hanging on the wall that pulls down into the functional laundry table or a barn door that doubles as a ping pong table. I think outside the boundaries of a traditional single function furniture piece. Basically, I like to color outside the lines.
