Cooper Weatherby is a multi-talented contractor/designer. He has the unusual combination of being a unique problem solver and artistic designer with practical application. Since he understands construction of a project from the ground up, he is able to provide solutions that work, while maintaining an appreciation for the clients' desire for beauty and comfortable ergonomics.
Cooper completed 2 major projects for our homes: termite re-construction and kitchen remodel. The first was a devastating destruction under a bathtub caused by a tiny leak, that eventually attracted termites. When Cooper detected the extent of the damage, it included: nearly all subflooring in the bathroom, one common wall between bathroom and a bedroom, 2 more walls in the bedroom, beginning to spread into the ceiling, and bedroom floor. This project would have "scared" some contractors much older than Cooper, but with each new challenge, he brought his "can do" confidence and willingness to investigate all options to the job.
He successfully "saved our home", which is how I describe the reconstruction to friends and family. In the end, Cooper gutted both the bathroom and bedroom, remodeled the entire bathroom adding designer features such as slate flooring and inside bathtub/shower surround, white marble sinks, and custom lighting. He reinforced the entire bathroom and bedroom subflooring, replaced necessary weight bearing joists, and ended up replacing all of the hardwood in the bathroom, hallway, and 2 adjoining bedrooms. This was particularly challenging, since he had to match a 40 year old hardwood to the living room hardwood floor. Again, another contractor might have settled for something close, but Cooper is a stickler for detail and matched it perfectly.
Regarding our 2nd project, which was a kitchen remodel. Cooper was able to keep the same amount of square footage (not requiring any outside walls to be moved), which adding much more work space and a spacious feeling. He designed a much larger island, turning it's presentation 180 degrees and lengthening it by 6 feet. By narrowing the island slightly and adding length, it sits 3 to 4 people easily, while allowing free flow around work spaces. He added a prep sink in the island, so that one can easily visit with company while cooking. The larger sink can be used for additional prep and/or clean up. He suggested an under mount, pull-drawer microwave, which has been terrific and frees-up even more counter space. Cooper also was the general contractor overseeing custom cabinetry design. He had a major influence on fulfilling the customer's ideas into reality.
Cooper provides a thoughtful ear, experienced skill set, inquisitive mind, interest in cutting edged technology, green materials, and has a very strong work ethic. His word is golden and he will complete everything he starts with integrity.
