The Bespoke Plumbing Story, Hi, we’re Dion and Nicki and we probably enjoy the distinction of being Perth’s only husband and wife plumbing team! So you can get to know us better, we’d like to share our story with you. About Dion. Dion began his pre-apprenticeship in 2002 at the ‘ripe old age’ of twenty five. Having made a conscious decision that he wanted a secure future, in an industry that was well respected and known for generating plenty of work. So ‘Plumbing’ became his chosen career. Over the course of his four year tenure as a ‘mature-age’ apprentice, he won numerous awards, a testament to his diligence and dedication. After finishing his apprenticeship in Perth, a ‘sea change’ beckoned and so he made the move to the northern-WA coastal town of Geraldton where he would spend the next five years gaining invaluable experience in every aspect of his trade, and along the way, develop his passion for delivering exceptional customer service. On January 21, 2014, Dion’s ambitions were realised when Bespoke Plumbing and Gas opened its doors for business with a firm commitment that he, and every other employee of the company, would make sure that they would show up on time, clean up thoroughly after the job was finished and guarantee the quality of the work undertaken. About Nicki. Nicki, Apart from being Dion’s wife, Nicki’s ‘claim to fame’ is that she was, as far as we knew, the only female apprentice plumber in Perth at the time of her apprenticeship. Her story is a very original and unique one, having started out initially to train and qualify as a hairdresser, which she did quite successfully, owning, renovating, and operating three salons in that time. How then does a hairdresser make the transition to plumbing? Well it was definitely a journey! Going way back to her childhood, her favorite thing to do, was get in the shed with her Dad and tinker. Buying her first house with Dion at age twenty-two, was to be the start of a long love affair with ‘Renovator’s Delights’. To cut a long story short, five homes, three commercial properties, plus a shipping container conversion into a granny flat later, Nicki realised she loved improving and fixing homes with the tools in her own hands more than she loved cutting hair, so she took the plunge, took on an apprenticeship. As of 2017 Nicki is a qualified Plumber and that's how they became ‘Mr & Mrs. Bespoke Plumbing’ … and lived happily ever after!
