I remember quite well the hours we spent designing, planning and building your house. Coincidentally, I was driving through Park Ridge a couple weeks ago and saw the for sale sign in front of your house. From my car I texted the online pictures of the listing to Jeremy and Victor and we enjoyed a moment of reminiscing from 24 years ago. Even though many years have passed I still remember the intimate details of the house floor plan, construction details and the events happening in my life during this project. Hence, this review practically brought me to tears reading about the beautiful events and happy times your family experienced in this house and that it served its purpose as intended. Pam, we would like to thank you for hiring us for the design and build of your terrace and porch addition to your home. Like most old homes this project had its fair share of challenges including, among other things, ensuring the design of the terrace and details of the construction perfectly blended with the original architecture of your 100+ year old colonial brick home. Another challenge we encountered during framing was the discovery of severe wood degradation of the structural walls of the porch and mold growth along the existing window jambs. With our expertise, we were able to quickly consult with our structural engineers, create a remediation plan, and implement the changes with the building department all within a few days time. Even though you are unsatisfied with our handling of the Punch List phase of the project, we are very happy that you are satisfied with the design and quality of construction we have provided.

We are deeply concerned with your interpretation of our handling of the few remaining punch list items that you have commented on. One of the most challenging aspects of our job is to properly inform our clients on the process of designing and building an addition as well as managing expectations and clearly explaining the ‘Closeout’ process of every project. After reading your comments we realize more time should have been spent explaining the time frame needed for completion of the punch list items and will keep this in mind for future projects.

We would like to address the specific comments you have made, some of which are gross misrepresentation of facts. We’ve spent the past few days investigating and gathering facts of each and every one of your claims and have found that many of the items you list here are untruthful. The most serious accusation you make, “final inspections for permits were not scheduled by Jeremy Lew and Associates Inc”, is completely false and untrue. Not only did we schedule the final inspection, our project manager walked through the house with the building inspectors and passed all but one of the final inspections. We have physical copies of inspection reports from Friday July 21st, which we can forward to you. You can also contact the Winnetka building department for further confirmation.

We are fully aware of the remaining punch list item “Pella screen door(s) were delivered and remain uninstalled”, and have notified you that this item will be installed Tuesday August 22nd.

In response to your comment “underside of entire exterior molding left unpainted-exposed to elements” was COMPLETED on Monday August 14th, before you wrote this review.

Your comment “Treacherous missing Step on second floor exterior deck is still not built even though the building materials were delivered to our driveway”, the step from the existing 2nd floor to the new terrace addition has a rise of 8”. During the final inspection, the inspector requested we reduce the rise of the step to 7 ¾”…a ¼” difference and my carpenters are scheduled to make this minor adjustment on Tuesday August 22nd.

In response to your comment “molding door(s) left uninstalled, exterior door hardware delivered and left uninstalled”, have been COMPLETED, before you wrote this review.

In response to your comment “Several months of building materials have been left on premises and destroyed our lawn”, this is true; however, you fail to mention that we agreed to repair your lawn which has already been COMPLETED on Monday August 14th.

Regarding the comment “interior electrical outlets not up to code, multiple exposed wires”, we believe these are items have been completed during the ‘Trim-out’ stage, since the village inspectors have passed the FINAL electrical inspection on Friday July 21. However, it is possible the inspector and/or our electrical contractor missed something, if that is the case, please submit a ‘Service Request’ with photo of the exposed wires to my email, so that I can schedule the electrician today or tomorrow.

We were also surprised by your comment “upon paying in full the contractor and material fees neither this general contractor nor crews hired by Jeremy Lew and Associates have returned to finish job, nor are they responding”, as we have corresponded several times about this and completed many of the punch list items since we received final payment on Monday July 31.

As of today Monday August 21, we have 3 remaining punchlist items to complete at your house, scheduled for Tuesday August 22. As a reminder, per our contract, you have a 1 year warrantee for the material and labor of the work we have completed. Should any problems arise within the new addition during the next 12 months or if you find a missed punchlist item, do not hesitate to email me a description and photo(if possible), so that we can schedule our crews to make whatever repairs are necessary.

We do our very best to please each and every client while maintaining our high standards of design and construction. This is demonstrated by our Houzz profile where we have 39 – 5 star reviews. Through our detailed proposals, we ensure that our clients are well informed from the start, including important details of their project, the scope of work to be completed and the anticipated project duration.
