Kimberly and the team at Vital Habitats effectively rebuilt my house and did it within the timeframe expected. All expenses were clearly explained and transparently shared, with no surprises. As we were building the house, they were completely flexible about making small changes and even suggested some finishing improvements that really added special touches to the home. It was a fun, collaborative construction experience; not the dreaded one you often hear about. We finished the project on great terms and love our new home.

Vital Habitats takes the guesswork and frustration out of renovation projects. They are very detailed in budgeting with line by line estimates and you can keep track of the progress of the work through the online site they provide...pictures, change orders, budget items, etc. They are very communicative and responsive. Their design ideas are creative and beautiful. And did I mention that they are super nice people who are wonderful to work with? I highly recommend Vital Habitats.

We couldn't have been happier with the job they did. I was dreading construction, had heard so many horror stories about people getting upset with contractors, delays, problems, etc. This was so pleasant -- they promised us it would be fun to build, and it was. There was never a single day when you wondered if they would show up. The project went pretty much on schedule, and on budget! There were glitches and problems, of course, but every single issue was promptly addressed, and corrected. The work space was always neat and clean, and the guys on the job were invariably easy to deal with.

Vital Habitats completed a thorough renovation of our home that included new siding, new windows and the addition of a master bathroom. I would say that the biggest thing that separated the experience from others we have worked with was their professionalism and attention to detail. Everything was laid out in easy to understand terms and every statement was thorough, without being labyrinthian. It felt like we were dealing with business professionals who happened to be our GC’s, rather than GC’s trying to sound professional. Any time we asked for more color about a particular choice, we were given a full answer that did not simply represent a push to the most expensive options. Everything went swimmingly and according to initial plans and estimates. At no point did we experience the famed Hamptons lament of ‘where’s our contractor?’ Especially towards the end of the job, when we needed help with documentation and C of O issues, they were responsive. We love our new house and enthusiastically endorse Vital Habitats.

We hired Kim as the general contractor for a house we built in Sag Harbor. It was one of the best decisions we made. The project came in on time, on budget, and beautifully done. She is a true professional in every sense of the word and a pleasure to work with from beginning to end. I highly recommend Kim for any construction project.

Homework in the Hampton

We love Vital Habitats - they are still in process with a difficult renovation of a 1820s house - no easy task. Great team of people who have facilitated this - all with expert advice through each step. Great tradespeople to execute all and full disclosure on every penny spent. Smart, reliable, resourceful and responsible.

I don’t live in the Hamptons, I live in Bushwick, Brooklyn, which is a far cry from a multi million dollar home. But when I asked Vital Habitats to help me with the renovation of my second bedroom, using my design idea and tiny budget, they exceeded my expectations. Not only did they work closely with the architect to make my design ideas work, they contributed their knowledge and experience in complicated on-site decision making. One of the things that impressed me the most was the master craftsmanship which was stunning to behold on such a small project. Many contractors would have compromised because of the complexity and the time it took to solve the issues, but without hesitation Vital Habitats confronted the challenges and created solutions best for this environment and it’s constraints. It goes without saying that budget, large or small, you are getting a rare gem — Builders who care deeply about their craft and service.

With Vital Habitats, they really do all the homework upfront. When we got the budget, everything was itemized to such a specific detail. It was thoroughly looked into and something they could conceivably stick to within a reasonable percentage. Throughout the process, Vital Habitats was extremely communicative with us. We received photos every single day of everything that had gone on that day with the construction. We felt like we were really part of the process. They set realistic expectations for us and then far exceeded them! I would highly recommend their services and would definitely work with them again.

We had a very good experience with Vital Habitats who did our house renovation. The entire team headed by Kimberly Eads was very knowledgeable and professional. They were all conscientious, creative, diligent at their job and very enjoyable to work with. Their sub-contractors were also very good. VH uses a Co-construct system which gave us on-line access to on-site job progress,costs and photos during the construction process which was very helpful. They steered us away from things not cost-effective. We would highly recommend them for your consideration.

As an architect I have worked with Vital Habitats on a variety of projects including renovations, additions and new houses. They are true professionals that make the process less stressful and enjoyable. Detailed pricing is provided before construction begins giving the architect and client an opportunity to make changes to adjust the design if necessary. Their expertise allows them to give insightful suggestions regarding construction details, wall assemblies, insulation, materials, etc. They are a team of talented individuals possessing great communication and management skills.
