TrainaThought Landscapes

This is our second landscape project working with Traina Thought Landscapes, a project to replace our crumbling front porch and steps and to install a low maintenance surface to our back deck. We returned to them because we were so pleased with the outcome of the first project, a redesign of our backyard. In both projects, the plan addressed our needs very well, the contract was clear and followed, the work was done by an experienced team, there was clear ongoing communication at all phases (when weather and supply chain issues slowed some progress), when we had questions or gave feedback our concerns were addressed quickly, and the work was done to our satisfaction.

Traina Thought Landscape is a very professional, well organized company. Jason Traina is very talented. He designed our backyard to our specifications and installed it in two weeks time. Our experience with Traina Thought Landscapes was great. Jason and Kellen were so nice and friendly. They were always open with ideas and made sure everything was perfect. Jason and his crew did an amazing job installing our artificial grass and beautiful stone seating wall with lights built in. They also redid our irrigation system. They always cleaned up the work site before they left and showed up when they said they would. We’re very happy with the end results and highly recommend them.

Traina Landscape was awesome to work with. Kellen and Jason were very professional, and helpful. They gave me options, but not too many where its confusing. We came up with a plan and executed it. Most professional and helpful contractor I've ever worked with. Crew showed up when they said they would, did what they said they would do and always kept me up to date. In April we moved to a new home in Lathrop's River Islands which we were both anticipating with excitement. But the reality a new home is a patch of dirt instead of a backyard! We are both retired so the idea of having to plan and contract that part of our dream home was something we were not looking forward to. Having three dogs we wanted to get a something in place prior to the winter rains coming because we have pets. We are both happy to say we found TRAINA THOUGHT LANDSCAPING! When we initially met with them, the owner, Jason came over with clipboard in-hand. He asked a lot of questions, took notes and listened to both my husband and I on our ideas and suggestions. Jason also had many great suggestions which we indeed incorporated into our plan. He came back to us with a computer-generated, detailed plan of our yard, with plant suggestions, stone suggestions (we used exclusively pavers in our yard for the hardscape), decorative rock suggestions plus many other ideas. The design went back and forth a couple of times, was approved, and the work began. Jason's crew of landscapers (usually 2 to 4 guys) showed up on that first day of work with enthusiasm (and on time!)! What a great team, they came on time every day and if they weren't able to make it they let us know. They followed the plan to a tee and if myself or my husband had questions they were answered. Their communication through this whole process was terrific both with the landscapers themselves and also through the back office. We did have a couple of changes along the way which we had no trepidation asking since we both felt comfortable working with the team. The project was finished on time and we could not be happier with it! They followed the plan exactly as was presented to us, handled unexpected problems (like our weekly evacuation of our water processor that was washing away half our front yard) and also handled all of the permits required (we had a gas fire-pit installed). If you are looking for professionalism, great design and a group that is easy to work with, you found your place with TRAINA THOUGHT LANDSCAPING. I would not use anyone else. Now, we're thinking about redesigning the front yard ...

Creative: took all our ideas and the space and made it suit our needs and budget in ways we had not imagined. Attentive: checked in at all stages of the process, were patient with our requests for changes (in the planning stage). Professional: communicated clearly and well, stayed on schedule and on budget; dealt with a cranky, less than reasonable neighbor with great civility.

Traina Thought Landscapes have got to be the best landscapers in all of San Joaquin valley. They are professional, knowledgeable, very friendly, thorough, accommodative, and the list can go on with positive qualities. We originally had a design plan for our backyard, however, life happened at the very last minute and we not able to go forward with those plans. We feared our backyard, which was bare and full of weeds and dirt, would never get done and never have a chance to look like a backyard should. Although they were very understandable about the events that took place, they kept a great attitude, wished us the best and gave us a warm open door to come back whenever we were ready. As luck would have it, we were after all able to afford the backyard, but needed to adhere to a lower budget. Kellen and Jason put their two brilliant minds together for a redesign and were able to still give us much of what our original design was at a cost we could now afford. As a result, the backyard, in all of 12 years since the house was built, never looked so beautiful. We finally have a *real* backyard that can be enjoyed by everyone who comes to visit and even our neighbors when they look outside their windows. The project moved along very quickly (which you won't find with most contractors) as the crew showed up early and on time each day to piece together our lovely backyard. We just moved into a new home with a huge backyard full of dirt. There was so much space, I knew I needed it to be professionally designed. Jason and Kellen did an amazing job taking my very long "wish list" and making everything fit into our plans. It turned out even better than I imagined. I feel like I have a park in my backyard now - perfect for lots of kids, pets, growing our own food, and backyard BBQ's. Jason also came up with a beautiful riverbed idea for our front yard to replace a pretty useless sliver of lawn - and completely drought tolerant! Jason and the crew were very respectful of our home, our time, and our pets.

I hired TrainaThought Landscapes to design my backyard with lawn, plants and redwood trees. The negotiations on price were fair, detailed and very professional. Their knowledge and vision in recommending the right seed, plants and trees and their best location is excellent. They put in the extra effort so that I felt that I had hired a team that put my project on the top of the list, and given their diligence, work ethic and professional, friendly manner, I am confident that I am one of many who feel the same. We are thrilled with the outcome of our first project with TrainaThought Landscapes! Our home was surrounded by several dirt filled spaces that were in desperate need of landscaping. Our initial meeting consisted of Kellen and Jason gathering info and details of our vision for our outdoor space. Next, we met at the nursery to choose plants and materials. Their expertise in selecting the right products for our space made this step stress free. Finally, the Traina's and their team completed the project. They worked within our budget and time frame. TrainaThought Landscapes was referred to me by a trusted associate and so I went into the process with high expectations, which were met on every level. They were conscientious, professional and on time - a big deal in my book! When I had a concern over part of the budget, they worked with me to meet a mutually beneficial compromise, The yard looks terrific and I recommend them without hesitation.

If you are looking to landscape your yard, look no further than Traina Thought Landscapes. Kellen was very helpful throughout the entire process and designed a beautiful backyard that our toddler loves. After the initial meeting at our house where she went over the different packages in detail, she and her husband, Jason, came back out to conduct detailed measurements of the entire yard. Once that was done, the design aspect took several days for them to complete because we had very specific requests with regard to plant/tree types and a strict budget range. We wanted drought resistant/tolerant trees that could provide a lot of shade in the summer (our backyard faces due west, so we get a nice hot afternoon sun) but would shed nicely in the fall to let in the winter sun. In addition, we wanted vegetation that would not attract bees and the rest of the yard to be kid and dog friendly. After a few days, she sent us an initial design concept that not only met all of our requests AND came in under our maximum budget. I think I made one adjustment (only because I wanted some room to build a shed later) but she basically nailed the design in one try. After everything was agreed on and contract signed, the Traina team got started on the day/time they said they would. A bit about the team: The team that Kellen and Jason have is incredibly nice and professional. They were great with our dog and our son had an absolute blast watching them all work and interacting with them when they had time. They took care of the yard and workspace, ensuring it was tidy and clean at the end of each day. The project was completed on time, under budget and the best part was that they had some leftover mulch so they took it upon themselves to spruce up our front yard by adding the left over mulch. I had never asked them to do anything like that. They're just THAT awesome! Honestly, if I could give them more than 5 stars I would. The service is outstanding, the professionalism is outstanding and the results are absolutely beautiful!
