We signed a contract in Feb of 21. It stated we would have a completed home in 7 months barring any supply issues. I realize we were building during covid and there could be supply issues. Anytime we ran into one we made adjustments and changes as we didn't want to prolong completion. Supply issues weren't the issue. We were told that we would break ground in April of 21, that didn't happen until July/Aug 21. We picked out our appliances in July of 21. We found out about 7 months later that they were never ordered by Schei home building, when we had a question. Luckily Slyman Bros worked it our for us, although not all appliances were installed when we moved in. We had custom kitchen cabinets built. Met with builder to design. He didn't pay the deposit for awhile after. They didn't get ordered until the company received deposit. We found that out when they got in touch stating that something needed adjusting. Other cabinets we ordered from another supplier went MIA on a truck somewhere and no one could find them. We ended up designing and ordering them ourselves from somewhere else. That held up the counter top fabrication. We encountered many small issues along the way, but I realize that is to be expected, this is our 3rd home we've built. Most were rectified. The real issue with this company is we are over 2 years 3 months after signing the contract and still aren't completed. We moved in but have several items that are not completed to date, and can't get a solid date on when we will be completed. We're just being told it will be done. We have been told this since we moved in last July. Parts of our yard are horrendous. We had geo thermal installed and they had to dig a lot of the yard up so we knew to expect settling. We were told they would take care of that. We've been trying since August/September of 2022 to get that done and were promised it would be completed by the first freeze of last fall. Didn't happen. Then we were told it would be done as soon as the weather broke this spring. We still can't get a solid date for completion. Parts of our yard have gullies that are 3 feet wide and in some areas at least 30 feet long. People have fallen and we can't get our lawn service to take their equipment back there to knock down weeds. We have been trying to get our 30 day punch list completed and we have lived here for almost 9 months. We are experiencing water in our garage, siding popping loose, raised roof shingles, along with a list of small issues. I started recording our meetings and phone calls once things were getting to the point of frustration. I have multiple instances documented where we were told things and they never happened and still haven't. This company may have been great at one point but I would encourage anyone considering hiring them to research them first. As of late they seem to be having a lot of problems holding up their contracts and commitments, lacking integrity.

We hired Mark Scheipeter having never known him. A neighbor gave us his business card. We considered two other builders but Mark's bid was the best so we went with him. Mark was a combination of professional and personable. He tore down an existing house on the lot and built us a new home. He was knowledgeable about every aspect of both processes. The quality of work was excellent. At one point I told him the location of a small wall that was being built according to plan in a bathroom was bothering me and making me lose sleep. He told me that I was not to lose sleep over anything and that if anyone would lose sleep it would be him. The next day the wall was changed to the way I wanted it. Not only is Mark a great builder, but he became a good friend to us and still responds to us when we ask him to help us with something that has nothing to do with the initial project.

Schei Homebuilding has done work for us since 2011. They built a detached garage/workshop that matched the original house perfectly. Over the years, they helped us reconfigure numerous living spaces. They recently finished updating our kitchen adding crown molding, rearranging cabinetry, adding a bar top to our island cook top and etc. They have helped us think through better ways to save energy and looked closely to find solutions for structural issues. They have been transparent about cost, honest about timelines, and quick to rectify any problem that may occur. They are our first call when our home needs work. Mark Scheipeter will bend over backwards to get the job done right.

Schei Home Building built our dream house at Lake Montowese in Byrnes Mill Missouri. Mark and his truly professional work crews were a delight to work with. I have never met anyone with more integrity, honesty and openness when dealing with his customers. The entire building process was much less stressful with his company than some contractors I have dealt with for much smaller jobs. Mark uses an invoice system, which is on an app for your phone or computer, that gave us instant access to where we were in the process and the bids, cost factor, etc. He allowed us to save thousands of dollars by doing some of the work ourselves, we painted the interior of the house and tiled our bathroom showers, with guidance and suggestions from Mark. His workmanship was outstanding, from the six inch outside walls with Spider sprayed insulation to the excellent trim work inside, 9 ft ceiling, beautiful cathedral family room ceiling, and 9 foot ceiling in the basement. All of it exceeded our expectations. I would highly recommend him for whatever project you have. He truly goes above and beyond and is a true blessing to work with.

Schei Building team did a beautiful job on our renovated master bathroom. Everyone on the team was professional, personable, skillful and a pleasure to work with. We would surely want them to do any renovations for us in the future!
