For 40+ years we have envisioned giving a 1900s cherry mantelpiece (purchased when we were graduate students) a permanent home. In 2018, we began our search for a renovation team that would provide consultation on incorporating our antique architectural element into a newly envisioned living room wall. David Norbut, CEO, was approachable and encouraged us with his ability to listen to our vision for the room and his suggestions to expand our options, not losing sight of our original plan. Jenelle, Norbut’s Operations Manager, was immediately responsive as we made initial contact and provided access to documentation regarding methodologies, partners and process to assist us in understanding the culture of Norbut. Her friendly and engaging approach was impressive and encouraged us to pursue the potential relationship. From start to finish, we were able to keep communications open, not only with David but his team as well. As the project progressed, we were able to exercise changes where it made sense and where the end product would be enhanced without disruption to the schedule. Kelly and Wes were in and out of our home almost daily during the month and one half of the project, always being respectful of our home and being entirely professional in their interactions. The quality of their work was exceptional. Wes crafted cherry window trim and cabinetry details to replicate the trim from the antique cherry mantelpiece, blended the structure of the cabinetry with the mantelpiece to create an ensemble that visually appears to look as if it has always been together. Wes and Kelly treated the antique mantelpiece with care, realizing its age and fragility. They understood our vision and masterfully crafted the final solution in every way as we hoped. Kelly was Client focused at all times, asking preferences within scope, following up with options as we requested a few change orders and providing daily updates regarding schedules, accomplishments and next steps consistently. Always the gentleman. Are we pleased? Without a doubt! Would we hope to work with Norbut Renovations on additional projects in our home for the future? Absolutely!

We couldn’t be happier working with Norbut Renovations. They turned our 1900’s farmhouse into our dream home. The process was easy and smooth. Dave made a point to be in constant communication throughout the renovation. This included meetings on site to discuss progress, phone calls, and emails. We hired Dave as the contractor to complete a design project previously proposed by another designer. Dave’s team took that design and came up with a plan that was way more functional! This project involved a roof tear-off raising our master bedroom walls and ceiling to give us an on-suite master bath and walk in closet all while we (a family of five and a dog) were living in the house through the construction. We could not have had a better experience! Dave has a great team that clearly cares about what they do. They are a hard-working, friendly crew that does quality work. The project was basically done on time and budget. When the town inspector came for his final inspection he commented on how he couldn’t believe how quickly this project was completed. I would highly recommend Norbut Renovations to anyone. The Reno process is the most organized I have ever experienced and the quality of work is top-notch!

Dave and his team renovated two bathrooms, the front door entrance way, created an addition and master suite a few years back. We were pleased with his work then and now. When an issue occurred with the master shower; he was quick to take a look and send over a crew that could access the situation and then make a plan to fix it. His work was warrantied and the final work looks like it was the original. Excellent experience every time.

We had an excellent experience with Norbut Renovations. We used Dave Norbut to renovate the kitchen and main floor of our home. Dave is very detailed oriented and an excellent communicator. Everything was done on time and in budget. He really took the time to make sure everything was done to our satisfaction. Norbut Renovations turned our visions into reality when they renovated our kitchen, family room fireplace, and mudroom. They helped us incorporate two very different rooms into one space we love. Their design ideas were creative, unique, and considerate of the needs of our family. They perfectly balanced the character of the house and our personal style. Dave and his team did a fantastic job on our rather complicated renovation. It was a project most other contractors were intimidated by, but Dave developed a plan and proposal that gave us confidence he was ready for the task. The team was fantastic, the project stayed on schedule (other than weather based challenges) and the price came in on the lower end of the range we were quoted. The craftsmen on the project were hard working, with great attention to detail. There were no surprises despite the complexity. We would hire Norbut Renovations again and highly recommend the team.

Once my wife and I committed to a home renovation, our first challenge was finding the right contractor / architect / design-build firm for our project. Countless home visits and interviews yielded little success, until Dave and Alex showed up. After having many uninspiring discussions with several other companies, once we started talking with Dave and Alex we knew we were on to something. They asked questions that others did not – questions that made us think – wow, these guys know what they are talking about. After their visit we quickly made the decision to go with Norbut. From there, we worked closely with Dave, Alex, and Shaina to come up with a design that we were looking for. While it took a few iterations of the plans to get exactly what we were looking for, the process was smooth and we were well informed along the way. It was a collaborative approach, with Norbut offering their suggestions and explanations as to what would work well. The end result was a plan that we loved and that fit within our targeted budget. We knew we had the right team working for us during the planning and budgeting phase, but I can tell you that once Wes and Brian (Norbut’s carpenters) showed up, and we saw their work – we absolutely knew that this project was going to turn out perfect. Wes and Brian were fantastic. We felt they were invested in our project, had great attention to detail, and just simply did quality work. As with any project there are going to be challenges along the way. One of the best qualities of Norbut was Dave’s commitment to making sure things were done right. Dave did a great job keeping us informed during the construction process and was always available to discuss the project. We made two changes to the project along the way and each time Dave fully explained how the changes would impact the scope of the project and the budget. If you are looking for a team that is committed to you, will keep you well informed, will work through challenges to ensure things are done right, and quite frankly simply does great work – then Norbut Renovations is the team for you.

Norbut worked with us from start to finish- architecture, interior design, etc...They really understood the vision we had for our mid-century modern home. When the place was in shambles, Dave and his team immediately saw the potential instead of the ruin. Our home was built by the original owners, and had many bizarre (yet super unique) work arounds. Dave Norbut and his team took extensive efforts to ameliorate these problems and update our house, including finding smart solutions for our crooked walls, floors, ceilings, and crazy roof angles! Furthermore, my husband and I were living overseas for most of the process. Dave and his team (Shaina and Alex especially--big props to them both!) were always easily and quickly available via email, text, and Skype, working around our schedules and time zones. Dave and his team were with us every step of the way, and helped us with our budget and timeline to create something that worked for us. When changes were offered or needed to be made to our plans, he explained things in detail and with reasoning that helped us understand his thinking for amendments to our plans. Even now that the first phase of the work is done, he checks in with us and sends people over to improve any small things we notice that we might want fixed--extra dimmer light, a repaint in a small area... Overall, we love our home, and as we continue remodeling our basement and outside, we will be using Norbut Renovations again! We have recommended them to others as well!!

We love our renovation done by Norbut! This company works with you to make all your choices before the work begins. The designer is a pleasure to work with and really listened to our needs and understood our taste. The project finished right on time even though we chose to add several mini projects into the plan after construction began. The few inevitable problems uncovered during construction were addressed immediately, professionally and to our satisfaction. Someone was always available to answer questions or bring up concerns throughout the process and the excellent follow up after job was completed lets me know that this company truly cares about the quality of the work that they do. Our renovation process included completely planning the project on paper and all the supplies were ordered before the work was started. Norbut's choreographed the barrage of workers efficiently and made sure the area was cleaned completely each day. The project manager was respectful and made sure that all our concerns were addressed. When difficulties occurred they made sure we were informed. The completed kitchen is gorgeous and the attention to detail makes it a true work of art.
