New Energy Works, along with our sister company, Pioneer Millworks, have nearly 30 years experience producing highly-crafted, reclaimed and sustainable wood products—timber frames, trusses, flooring, doors, stairs, furniture, fixtures, and cabinetry. We've worked with great clients across the nation, and collaborated with fine architects and builders in the commercial, retail, and residential arenas. The common denominator is a passion for greater sustainability and fine craftsmanship. New Energy Works has LEED AP staff members, is a member of the US Green Building Council, and is FSC Certified.

They built a timberframe 1000 sq. ft timber frame for me on Mt Hood but were ill-prepared. There plan was to rapidly frame the cabin in November, but it rained and then they failed to keep it dry. The tongue and groove ceiling all warped, had to tear that off, instal SIP panels. Then they refused to install the front wall which was all windows, so I was left with months of rain blowing in, up on the roof for many weeks trying to protect cedar framing and plywood floor from water damage. I finally had windows in by March. That was 2 years ago and now I fight mold every winter and spring, mold that grows inside in the cedar, mold in the plywood floors and in the framing.

David, we’re sorry your project did not go as you expected. Unfortunately, given that we were not the General Contractor (GC) on your project and that you were not interested in a full set of construction documents (just the minimum required for a permit set), we were unable to control the details or easily make adjustments.

We have worked with many, many owner-builders in the past, generally to great success. At times we will emphatically recommend clients have a GC for their projects; when our recommendations are ignored, it is difficult to impossible for us to impact project circumstances. As we take the part of GC for projects each year, we understand the ins/outs of reputable partners and conversely the often-insurmountable challenges clients face who choose not to use a GC.

Weather can be quite a challenge where schedule flexibility and proper detailing is critical to ensure the integrity of your home. We wish you luck moving forward.

We had a wrap around deck done by them, plus new siding, doors and a window. They were very conscientious, and were easy to work with. They were also very good with following up with any issues we had. I would highly recommend them.

If you are building a Timber Frame home, you will not find a better company to work with. These people are extremely bright, helpful and hard-working and care deeply about all aspects of your project. The green and energy-efficient home they are helping us build, featuring as much reclaimed wood as possible, could not be turning out to be any more beautiful.
