Lux Design in Toronto is the top of the home renovation business. Home renovation and design in Toronto are not for the inexperienced, nor are these undertaking inexpensive by any means. Lux charges top dollar for their services, but in this case you truly get what you pay for. The money I invested in the services and workmanship I received from Lux made me a 100% profit when I sold the condo following the work performed by Lux Design. The project was finished on time and any problems that occured, as they will in any renovation project were dealt with quickly, efficiently and fairly by the company. Top marks for both my designer, Marcella, and Nazneen at the Toronto office for their help and support throughout the project.

I hired Lux Designs and Negar on the "Condo Quickie" package to furnish my newly purchased condo from scratch. I was incredibly impressed by Negar from start to finish! She did an awesome job of taking my vague suggestions about what kind of style I wanted and making this into a complete, real design. She thought of every detail, from furniture to floor coverings, light fixtures, wall decorations and artwork, and all the extras. I was super pleased with the result. More than that, she has a fantastic work ethic -- I was a very fussy client and she took all of my suggestions, redoing parts of the design and finding new pieces as needed. She was available all day and late into the evening via text to discuss parts of the design. Also, when there were inevitably some small problems with some of the furniture ordering and delivery, she fixed everything personally. For example, when the last piece I ordered, a painting, was not delivered in time for my housewarming party, she went so far as to loan me a painting so I wouldn't have an empty wall for the party! All in all I was very happy with Negar's work and would highly recommend her to anyone.

I have to say I am blown away by the number of positive reviews this design firm has received. My experience was anything but. From the initial attempt at trying to reach someone (called 3x) and when I finally got a call back they insisted I never called all the way to the meeting with the designer. The operations director that I got a call back from eventually was just so disorganized and didn't really seem like she knew what she was doing. Spent most of the call talking about all the great work their firm does without even bothering to ask me about the style we wanted or anything about our project yet somehow "they would be the perfect fit". I had to basically ask her if she wanted my opinion, or my floor plans, or what I thought could work. Then we met the designer who again, did not care about at all what our style was and basically indirectly insisted we use their builder and that our rather healthy budget of over a million dollars, yes a million, to do a rebuild was probably not enough and again kept indirectly hinting that if we could build our house for that price then it probably wouldn't be up to her standard. I work in a client servicing industry myself, and never in a million years would I presume to know what my client wants without asking them first nor would I speak to them in such an inhospitable manner. Luckily my wife and I interviewed several design firms (all of which were light years more professional than Lux) and we've finally found the perfect designer for us. One that asked a hundred questions what we wanted and made sure she was the right fit for us, not the other way around. Stay away from this one folks.

We are long time clients of Isabelle, who is the Principal of Lux Design, and one of the most talented designers in the city. Isabelle designed our entire home and demonstrated a level of care that made us feel like she treated our home as her own. Her dedication to our project was evident on the very first day we began our collaborative sessions to brainstorm different styles for our home. She came prepared with an incredible collage of pictures to give us an idea of different looks that we could achieve. She spent a lot of time trying to understand who we were as people and sought to solicit our opinion so that she could truly design a house that fit our family, our lifestyle, and our own tastes. No detail was too small for Isabelle. Isabelle began with creating a new floor plan that maximized our space and increased its functionality. She was always respectful of our goals and found creative solutions where practicality, utility, and design came together. The process of selecting flooring, paint colours, furniture, lighting, art, and accessories can be a daunting task for any individual, but Isabelle made this seem simple and effortless. She created an interior design book where multiple ‘looks’ were selected for each room so that we could chose one that we felt was the best fit and even gave us the ability to mix and match certain elements together. With any project this large, there are going to be minor challenges that come up, which most people accept. What is most important is the manner in which these challenges are resolved. Isabelle’s actions and words have shown us time and time again that she is a champion for accountability. Regardless of what came up, whether it related to inventory that arrived damaged, or the need to modify an element of the design during construction, Isabelle dealt with everything professionally and ensured that we were completely satisfied. We also had an opportunity to work closely with Nazneen, who is the Director of Operations at Lux Design. She was always available to speak with and clearly had an eye for detail as each of the invoices we received were all accurate; not an easy task considering all of the moving pieces. Overall Isabelle’s design really pushed the boundaries whenever possible and as a result, our home is absolutely stunning!! She is an extremely talented designer and exudes passion for her work. We are so happy with the design of our home and could not have done it without Isabelle and Lux Design!

After contacting several firms in the area we decided to work with LUX Design to help our growing family turn our house into a home. After speaking with Lina the client coordinator we were paired with a lead designer at LUX, Yasuko, - who did an amazing job. Our designer and the rest of the management team including Isabelle, Nazneen and Billy were very well organized, responsive, helpful, and worked within our budget to create a beautiful design! Right from the onset we felt that Lux listened to our goals for the space and were able to take our ideas to the next level as well as present ones that we had never thought of. Just one example from many was that our designer came up with a very unique solution to our lack of storage in the kitchen by proposing a built-in bar across from the island which not only looks great but is very functional as well. Ultimately what we liked the most was that Lux oversaw the whole project from start to finish allowing us to focus on our jobs, our family and our already busy lives. Looking forward to working with them again on our next project. Highly recommend.

From start to finish, our experience with Lux design has been one of frustration and disappointment. TL;DR—over budget, outrageously late, poor communication. We initially approached the company about a design consultation on our new condo. Since I am someone who gives credit where it is due, I will note that our designer was very professional and offered some very helpful suggestions for accent wall colour and furniture selection. They were also kind enough to waive their design fee as we are young, first-time homeowners—which was appreciated. However, it is there that the good review ends. At our designer’s suggestion, we ordered a custom sectional from Lux to fit a very specific space. We were told to expect delivery within 6-7 weeks, which was later revised to 6-8 weeks (including construction and delivery). At 9 weeks I reached out to check on the status of the order and was told that (i) production hadn’t been started yet, (ii) the fabric we had ordered was out of stock and (iii) that Lux hadn’t wanted to contact us with this information because they “hadn’t wanted to give us the bad news”. I will note that the fabric we ordered was at THEIR suggestion, and was also the only fabric that we were able to see in person. At the outset, we provided Lux with a maximum all-in budget for the project. However, as soon as we were ready to order, the item ended up being 30% over our initial budget. We were offered a gestural discount on the sectional, which ultimately arrived over 13 weeks after it had been ordered. Upon delivery, it was clear that there is absolutely no quality control from Lux, who had failed to notice that the cushions they had ordered were wrong. They also had to send a delivery team back for a second trip in order to attach the sofa legs, which they failed to do during their first visit. They have since offered to replace the cushions, which should be a given. Throughout this entire process, Lux failed to take responsibility for the delays and inadequacies, continually shifting the blame to, variously, the manufacturer, their delivery team, and—shockingly—to us, for our apparent inability to intuit that certain fabrics were out of stock at an anonymous manufacturer. The delays and defects would have been understandable if we had at least been kept abreast of the situation, but wrestling information out of Lux was like pulling teeth. “The manufacturer emailed us, but sent their note to an address that we don’t check!” doesn’t sound like a particularly good excuse, does it? Throughout the process, we were very clear and forthright about our needs and requirements, and Lux doesn’t appear to have the quality control or business practices in place to ensure that their clients’ needs are met. Our sectional arrived over budget, outrageously late, and not made to spec. I will say that the item itself is nice, and we’re happy with the end result. But the overall experience has soured us to a point that we can’t recommend this company even the slightest. I don’t know how Lux was able to disappoint us so thoroughly in a single project, but there you are. We finally had the item we ordered, as ordered, twenty weeks after the day we purchased it.

My wife and I hired Lux Design to custom design, build and install an entertainment wall unit with a gas fireplace in our new condominium unit. We also purchased custom lighting, rug and sofa. Our interior designer was Negar Aghebati. Her knowledge of how to utilize the space in our condo to ensure a roomy and cozy environment was extremely helpful. The electrician and installation crew were professional and on time. We will be utilizing Negar's services again in the coming months and would not hesitate to recommend her to others.
