Great Northern Builders (GNB) is an Award winning family run Design + Build leader in residential remodeling, construction as well as commercial construction and restoration. As a licensed general contractor, we tackle everything from whole-house renovations, new home construction and commercial buildouts. Great Northern Builders offers unsurpassed customer service, so no matter the project, you can be assured of constant communication and quality workmanship. Located in Eagan, Minnesota, we are proud to live and work in the Great North. We work with clients throughout the Twin Cities metro area and in western Wisconsin.

From our very first meeting with Chris, it was obvious that our partnership with Great Northern Builders would extend far beyond a single project. Partnering with us for their new showroom and studio, Chris and the entire GNB team showed an incredible level of trust in Blue Pencil Collective. Entrusting us with the design of a space that is essentially the face of their business, and a direct reflection of their identity takes courage and a belief in us as fellow designers, highlighting the kind of people they are. What we admire most about GNB goes beyond their hard-working nature and quality craftsmanship. We deeply appreciate and respect them as a family-owned business spanning generations, with four brothers leading the company. This is clearly reflected in the authentic compassion and honorable commitment to family that they infuse into every aspect of working together. The entire process was expertly balanced with professionalism and fun, making the project not only successful but memorable. We absolutely cannot wait for our next project with GNB! Chris and his team at GNB helped us to combine two small bathrooms into a beautiful master bathroom and add another bathroom where one didn't previously exist. Chris helped us right from the start by seeing our vision and helping us to complete it rather than changing it completely. His knowledge of current trends was extremely helpful in finding finishes that we loved without breaking our budget. Once construction started Neal and Kyle were everything you could ask for in project managers. Everyday they were friendly, professional and attentive to our needs, which is very much appreciated when also living in the house with two kids during a project of this magnitude. GNB will definitely be our first call for future projects.

We had a major modernization done to the front of our home Being in the construction industry (And a small business owner), I was well aware of the problems with schedules and deadlines that can occur with some contractors. I also didn't want a contractor that gave incomplete plans or specs in the hope of making a lot of money on change orders. Well, NONE of my worries materialized! Chris and his people where extremely courteous, professional and just downright nice. It was a pleasure to have them on site each day and In the end, project was better than we had ever expected and very fairly priced. Sue and I highly recommend and have referred a few of our own friends..

The Great Northern Builders team built our house in 2017. They were professional, timely, and super easy to work with. Our experience with them was fantastic. We had used them for home repairs in the past and decided to ask them to build our home. Since then, we have had them come back for other projects, the most recent being a deck addition on the back of our house. You can't go wrong with GNB, they are dedicated, and are always there if you need something!

Great Northern was a great company to work with. Right from the start they spent a lot of time with us to plan the perfect porch for our needs and budget. The result was exactly what we wanted, and the quality and workmanship was impressive. Project was managed in a professional manner and was on time and on budget. GNB did a phenomenal job on our main floor remodel. Having moved back into my childhood home, I was so accustomed to the way the house had always been. I couldn't envision a different layout, but the traditional 1969 floorplan of our home didn't mirror the way we live and entertain today. GNB came up with a vision for our space that exceeded my expectations and was beyond anything we could have imagined ourselves. The project itself was a dream- they seamlessly navigated the supply chain challenges coming out of the pandemic and scheduled our project so that once they began, they could work through to completion. The project was completed on time and on budget, with no surprises and clear communication throughout - I would call it concierge service. Their team of professionals is also great to work with and great to have in your home each day. I worked from home throughout the entire project and they were extremely sensitive to that. I would highly recommend GNB to anyone looking for a hassle-free, professionally managed project.

We had a wonderful experience with Great Northern Builders renovating our basement! They listened to our ideas and created an amazing design. They thoroughly waterproofed the space and added elements to enhance the aesthetic. Throughout construction, we were kept well informed of the schedule, and the GNB team was friendly, professional, and very responsive. We love our new basement and happily recommend GNB!

I highly recommend Great Northern Builders. This is a great company to work with! Chris was very knowledgeable about the product (windows) and professional throughout the process. He gave us many options to choose from, including the pros and cons of each choice without being pushy. He was quick to respond to questions and never left us feeling that we were a hassle. I would work with GNB again in a heartbeat (and plan to).

GNB did great work finishing our basement. Pricing was very competitive and the project was completed in a timely manner. They provided valuable design help and worked with us as the project unfolded. The basement is now the highlight of our house and I recommend the folks at GNB without reservation.

Great Northern Builders (GNB) did an awesome job on remodeling my home. Kitchen of my dreams. Finished my unfinished basement with a new bedroom, bathroom and office. New furnace and A/C. Roof on house and garage. Siding on garage. GNB was very accommodating as I work from home. It always felt like I was their only project. Held my hand through the entire desing process. Always timely responses to my endless questions. Id hire them again in a heartbeat. Cant image working with amyone else.

There were problems with most of the trades. Things had to be done over, but in the end, everything turned out well. The job took twice as long as we were told it would take.
