Founded in 1936 as a small radio shop in Chicago’s Logan Square neighborhood, Abt has grown to become the largest independent, single-location consumer electronics and appliance retailer in the nation. The combination of an expansive inventory, guaranteed low prices, and unparalleled customer service has made Abt’s sprawling Glenview showroom the go-to destination for appliance and electronics shoppers in a four-state area. With a staff of over 1400 employees, Abt takes pride in handling every aspect of the customer experience in-house. Everything from fielding customer service calls to delivering and installing new appliances is performed by Abt employees. This self-sufficiency is the crucial component in Abt’s quest to provide the best customer experience possible, and has been a key to their continued success. Abt’s 100,000 square foot showroom has been called the “Bellagio of Retail,” due in part to its elegant atrium. The soaring space is home to a dancing water fountain and Abt’s boutique shops, which include an Apple Store, Tumi Luggage Boutique, Time Watch Boutique, and Connect Computer Store. The newest addition the showroom is the Inspiration Studio, completed in late 2016. This unique area features twelve separate kitchen vignettes, each built around a suite of luxury appliances from a different brand and highlighted by designs from renowned kitchen designer Mick DeGiulio. Featuring a collection of fully-functioning appliances, the space was created to be the ultimate shopping destination for anyone planning a new kitchen. Abt continues to evolve, and is always adding services or products that will make their customers' lives easier or more enjoyable. In recent years, the retailer has expanded its product selection to include mattresses, fine home furnishings, home security systems, and outdoor patio furniture. When added to an extensive inventory of appliances, consumer electronics, and HVAC products, Abt has become a one-stop shop for homeowners in the area and across the country.
