Closet Works did a wonderful job on our home office. I would recommend them if you are looking to redo your office or closet.

This is fourth time I have used this company for different projects. Without exception, we were pleased with Sue’s design and her ability to meet our needs perfectly. This project involved large cabinets being installed in our garage. The scheduling department called promptly to schedule our installation. The gentleman that did the installation arrived promptly, worked efficiently and did a great job. Love this company!!

Bear with me here because this is going to be a long one. I recommend you read this entire thing because IF you use them, you’re in for a long haul and a lot of money. In summary, buyer beware. The project was initiated in October 16, 2019 and ended on March 23, 2020. The Task at Hand: We were updating 5 closets with lighting, and 1 closet without lighting. Total price of the job was over $10K. If I had to do this over, I would absolutely go through Costco for the custom shelving units, and Amazon for lighting. You will have gorgeous custom closets at ¼ the cost of Closet Works. Now on with the issues… You will be given a “designer”. Rather than consulting and providing expert suggestions, she was merely a liaison between us and the CAD designer. She came to our house once for the initial consultation and once to take final measurements. The rest of the interactions were all done via email or phone calls from her car. She lent no guidance, expertise, or common sense. Our designs ended up wrought with mistakes and lacked visual appeal that could have been prevented had she steered us a bit. Installation Day, January 30, 2020. What we thought was going to be a day filled with excitement to organize our home, ended up being a major disappointment with a series of issues. -They installed custom shelving over a wall that had not been painted despite me asking our designer if I had painted the proper walls that wouldn’t be covered. -They mixed warm and cool lighting in the same closet. I would have expected our designer to raise that as a potential red flag, but that did not happen and they gave an excuse about some clients wanting that. -Real wood drawer faces were installed inside the closets while cheap plastic faces were used in the exposed area. Once again, we were told this did not raise a red flag and said some clients prefer this. -We had emailed to the designer we would provide our own drawer pulls and knobs. The installers did not get the memo and installed all the wrong drawer pulls, requiring 8 drawer faces to be replaced. This was the only mistake the admitted to and we didn’t have to pay to fix. -Fillers were not installed where fixtures did not meet the wall leaving sloppy looking gaps anywhere from 0.5” – 3”. -They installed a pop-up outlet in the wrong area of a counter top leaving a hole in the counter top when they fixed it that will not be fixed until we get our own new counter top. During installation I voiced my concern and the installers did nothing then finally whispered “talk to your designer”, then proceeded to install all of the wrong stuff that I had to pay to change. While this was poorly handled by the installers, I do not blame the installers for this at all, they are simply taking poorly written orders from said “designer”. When we brought up the issues after install, we were simply told “you signed off on the designs” and were 100% responsible for PAYING THEM to fix it. They even made their margin off of fixing all of it. Between the blame being put on us, and them making even more money off of us, it was sickening. They took no responsibility nor placed any urgency on fixing our closets. Now, shame on us for not noticing the mistakes in the CAD designs, but we do not work on closets everyday nor are we experts in CAD drawings. In hindsight, what should have happened was a final walkthrough with us and the Designer to review all the specs. There was a final walk through but all the designer did was re-take measurements. Last but not least, their pricing is the biggest kept secret. They will give you 1 cost per closet, and if you ask for a breakdown in how much things cost… such as a belt rack, tie rack, drawer, ironing board drawer, etc, they will not share it. They said they would multiple times, but never did. All I have to say is the exact valet hook they use is $10 at Home Depot and I guarantee I paid over $100 for it… but I’ll never know, and neither should you, because you should enlist someone else for your closets. They completely stole the excitement from us of getting nice, new closets. I still hate the finished product because of the journey it took to get here.

Had a great experience with Closet works. My designer was very professional and the install crew was fast and clean. The price, quality and over all experience was great, i would recommend them to anyone!

I love my new closet! I visited the showroom to get ideas. I submitted my name and they put me in contact with my design consultant Nicole. I loved how she took my initial ideas and improved them 10 fold! Installation was a breeze and so nice and informative. (I wish I knew his name as well to thank). Thank you Nicole!

Exceptional customer service from start to finish. The designer took the time during the design phase to really understand what I wanted, instead of rushing through the process. Was extremely responsive to our questions. The install was similar in that the crew that did the work took time to ask questions throughout to make sure what they were doing was what I wanted. Everyone involved was very professional throughout the entire process, and we got exactly the product we wanted. I wouldn't use any other company for this type of work. Thank you!

Megan designed a closet for us, installed end of last winter. She came up with a few different ideas to fit the space with varied price points. Found the prices reasonable enough, great designs, and she was good communication and always on time for appt., so didn’t even bother to get other estimates. Install was 100% pro. Just about one year in and no issues. Materials still look great, drawer sliders still perfect. Quality job. Wouldn’t hesitate to call them for another closet and considering a basement storage install at some point.

Very good work. My closets was put together in a timely manner and the worker was nice and friendly. Now I have more closet and shelf space . I'm super happy about how my closets look now.

We have had a great experience with Closetworks- right from scheduling the appointment with the designer, working with the designer and getting the closets installed. The company is very professional and the closets look fabulous! We will surely have them help us with the rest of the closets as well as the garage.

Greg was our salesman. He was impressively thorough, organized, and creative. He was efficient with the design ideas and adjustments. He was highly courteous and professional. Our installers were also excellent. They were very careful to preserve everything around their work space and did a superb installation job. We now have our dream closet and could not be happier or offer a higher recommendation.

We hired Closet Works to install a master bedroom closet system. Sue was efficient and knowledgeable. She was kind and a pleasure to work with. We are planning on contacting them again for other projects in our home.

Excellent work..from everyone that we dealt with.Pam our designer provided the configuration that gave us the max space for our condo.. The installers were respectful..from cleaning up to telling us they hit our wall and left a small mark and would take care of it!! In business the highest compliment is giving a referral...I would recommend this company to any/everyone..

Closet Works did a long distance 19 closet custom closet job for us. How do you describe perfection? A 4 day installation job with 3 talented installers and zero/zero call-back items....on a total customer job!!! It was the perfect job from Design (Sue Tinker), installation/logistics (Andre & Tim) and project management (Tom & Frank). The job was a new custom home with a high end builder and a high end custom kitchen/bath cabinetry company......the builder and custom cabinetry company were blown away by the design/installation/perfection of the closets & garage from a 3rd party Closet Works they hadn't done business with to date....but they will in the future. 5 stars isn't high enough for this Closet Works successful design/install.

We have worked with Lynn on two homes and her professionalism, attention to detail are stellar. She asked us the right questions for what are needs were and was able to fulfill each and ever one of them. The installers were also very good and respectful of our home.

I worked with Katy Shannon to design a craft room. It is in the basement so there were problems that she had to design around (low ceiling, duct work, etc.). She did a wonderful job in designing around these problems. The results were great! I now have plenty of storage space and a wonderful work space which includes a large island in the middle of the room. The installer did a great job. I have had nothing but compliments on my new craft room.

Great salesperson. Great in installer. Showed us as scheduled. Work preformed exactly as expected. Would definitely recommend this company to others.

We purchased a single family home in the Bucktown area in Chicago, right by the 606 trail. There was plenty of vacant space adjacent to the small walk-in closet the Closet Works happened to have previously done a nice job with the previous owners. I called them up, and the designer that had originally designed the closet was still available. Gerry Ayala stopped by a couple of times with recommendations on the space, as well as tips on what would and would not work. Gerry has great ideas, very patient, and follow-through. The two gentlemen that did the work on the closet were fast, efficient, and took the time to explain what was done and how everything functioned. Highly recommended.

Last month we purchased a townhome in the western suburbs and the closets were our first upgrade to tackle. The existing ones were poorly configured with cheap wire. We chose Closet Works primarily because of Lynn one of their senior designer/consultants. Lynn had designed closets for us in our prior home and we trust her recommendations and outstanding customer service. For the townhome, Lynn's design recommendations and phased approach was spot on, as she had some challenging closets to work with. We decided to do our master closet, pantry, laundry and hallway. Second phase will be the remaining closets. Ed, our installer was a pleasure to work with. He was courteous, efficient and the installation went smoothly. We are extremely pleased with the quality and finished project and look forward to phase two from the duo of Lynn and Ed from Closet Works!

Closet Works was suggested to me by the builder of my new homes. They provided extensive master bedroom closet built-ins, closet built-ins in five other rooms of my home, and built-ins in my garage. Each had various types of shelving/compartments. The finished product is both beautiful and well built. I would highly recommend them for custom closets. I had used a different closet company for my prior home and I would recommend Closet Works vs. the other company.

Greg came out to give us an estimate for a closet system in our master bedroom. We had a single wire rod/shelf in the closet and wanted to add wood shelving and drawers and multiple hanging spaces. The estimate seemed high but after looking into the elfa system, DIY shelving through Home Depot and another closet company it was clear that we would get the best system for the cost through Closet Works. We told Greg our budget and he worked with us to reconfigure the arrangement and remove some of the features that were contributing to the cost that we could easily have Closet Works add or put in ourselves at a later date (hampers, valet rods, hooks etc.). Ultimately, we were able to get a beautiful closet within our budget and are having them finish additional closets in our home. Greg was great to work with, was attentive to our requests, and re-sent us several drawings for the layout based on our budgetary requirements. I would strongly recommend Closet Works!

Almost one year ago we upgraded 2 closet organizers and are were very pleased withthe whole process - as we should be! Last week upon returning from vacation we noticed that the unit in our pantry was not level. We emailed Carol on a Sunday night who in trun contacted Rich the intallation mamager who was in touch with us Monday 1st thing, where we set up access to our condo for him on Monday afternoon. By Monday afternoon Rich had removed all of the items stored on our sehleves, taken aprart the unit and determined that there was a failed componenent. He ordered the parts that day and by the end of Wedmnesday the part was in and Rich installed. The whole service experince we excellent - good to see a company with this level of committment to "long term" customer satisfaction. Great Job!!

In early May 2014, I contacted Closet Works in Chicago, to design a system for the closet in my master bedroom. Carol came to my home and I signed off on the design she proposed. But it was all downhill from there. The installer came on the appointed day (June 18) and everything appeared to proceed according to the design specifications. But not more than 10 minutes after the installer left, I went into the bathroom that adjoins the master bedroom and discovered to my horror that, while doing the tear-out of the rods and moldings in the closet, the installer had driven a screw through to the bathroom, causing the dark green paint to chip. Then I noticed that he had driven two more screws into the wall in the hallway adjoining the bedroom, also resulting in chipped paint. I immediately called to tell her what had happened and how upset I was. She asked me to send her pictures of the damaged walls, which I did. She assured me that Closet Works would repair the damage. The Closet Works scheduler contacted me four days later and we set a date for the repairs. I gave her the paint specifications for both my hallway and the bathroom. On the appointed day, two painters, arrived. One took one look at my damaged walls and said the installer couldn't possibly have caused the damage because the protruding screws weren't the kind that Closet Works uses for its installation. I explained to him as calmly as I could that the walls were fine before the installer arrived and that I noticed the damage 10 minutes after he left. I also stated that I had taken pictures that same day showing the damage and would be happy to produce them. He continued to insist that it was my painter who had caused the damage. In desperation, I said that I’d call my contractor who could perhaps better explain how the damage resulted. I’m not sure what my contractor said, but when he got off the phone, he admitted that it was the Closet Works installer who had damaged my walls in doing the tear-out. He then proceeded to patch, sand, and paint both walls. They did a fairly decent job although it’s still possible to see where the walls have been patched. I was very surprised that no one from Closet Works followed up with a phone call to determine whether I was satisfied with the repairs. This company had come highly recommended to me, but based on my experience, I wouldn't use them again nor would I recommend them to anyone else.

Carol came over and went through our home asking questions as she went so that she could most accurately give us plans based on our needs. She even made some recommendations for rooms we weren't going to buy anything for which we've implemented with great organizational success! The quote she gave us for the 2 closets we were interested in were reasonable, easy to understand, and took into account all of the things we said we needed. She did not try and upsell us on things we didn't need. The guys who came for the install were AWESOME! They were clean, fast, explained things well and were in and out quickly. We will definitely be using Carol and Closet Works again for our master bedroom closet in the future.

Carol Kirkland did a fabulous job determining my needs and creating the closet of my dreams. I had a closet done many years ago by another closet company, and Closet Works materials and professionalism were far superior. I highly recommend Closet Works (and Carol Kirkland) if you are thinking of a closet re-design.

We had the Closet Works design 3 of our closets. We work with Carol Kirkland who came out to our house and work with us to come up with a design based on our needs and budget. It was awesome working with Carol and we were very happy with the work that was done. The installers were on time and very neat. The installation went smoothly and the product is excellent. We would highly recommend the Closet works.

Great company - great designs, quality material, professional installation and excellent customer service. We did 4 closets with Closet Works including our master closet. Our designer Carol was exceptional and was very creative and imaginative in her use of space. The installers were extremely professional, competent and efficient. When the last of the four closet material arrived, it was the wrong color and Closet Works recut the right material and came back and installed it that same day. I would highly recommend Closet Works to anyone who wants good creative design, high quality material and fantastic installation and service.
