For over 20 years I have been designing and decorating residential, retail and commercial spaces. Beginning in real estate and then a gradual, yet natural, shift to interior design in a retail setting, my passion for creating beautiful residential interiors has been the focus of my independent practice since early 2014. I am committed to a philosophy and mission of building positive and collaborative relationships with clients, vendors and tradespeople to seamlessly improve the way you live and feel in your home. At The Design Project, we believe design should improve the human experience. We specialize in designing and decorating spaces that are an expression of our clients’ ideals. We are driven and inspired by innovative solutions, quality, balance and unparalleled customer service. It’s about a seamless integration of Architecture and Interior Spaces embodied by the clients’ lifestyle, budget, and aesthetic values. We are dedicated to getting to know you to carefully consider the smallest of details. Through a collaborative process, we engage with clients on a personal level and aim to craft a custom experience designed to improve the way you live.

I first hired Karen 9 months ago when I needed help to quickly furnish a new home that I was moving into. It was such a great experience that I decided to hire her again now that I’ve moved out of that rental home and into my own, newly purchased home. This time around, Karen is not only helping with furniture selections, but she is also assisting me with choosing all the paint colours, finishes, and layouts for the renovations I am doing. She has made an overwhelming process filled with countless decisions fun and easy. She was able to discern my preferred style and taste very quickly, and always seems to make recommendations that I absolutely love. More importantly, she is very sensitive to my budget and reminds me of it even when I forget about it. I wouldn’t hesitate recommending Karen to any property owner, builder, or designer looking for someone to take care of all the layout designs, furnishings, and finishes. She has truly become my go-to for all home-décor related projects.

Karen was exceptional to work with and extremely knowledgeable. She worked really hard with our tight timeline and always delivered when she said she would. We were in a crunch and she helped us bring life back into our home. Karen is very professional, but also made us feel like we had known her forever. Karen is an absolute treasure! She worked with my furniture and guided me with the selection of additionally needed pieces, as well as design elements to complete our vision for my new home. Karen worked with my husband throughout the design process of his study and two years later he remains pleased with the result, as am I. I have returned to Karen on several occasions as my home continues to evolve and I remain thoroughly impressed with her suggestions and guidance. Karen helped me with furniture layouts and selection, artwork, lighting and mirrors for a new build in Arizona at Superstition Mountain Golf and Country Club. She has great vision and was able create fabulous design elements from only the floor plans. She always provided several choices and took the time to get to know our sty;e. She provided advice on many aspects of the design and decorating of the home and I always appreciated her opinion, especially when she said, no that won't work, she was always right!!
