My passion for design was built on 10+ years directing the design and construction of Sunset magazine's forward-thinking Idea Houses, homes which represent what is next in home design in the western United States. I love creating beautiful environments and the challenge and excitement of seeing people's dream homes come to life.

I reached out to Sarah after a friend of mine referred her to me after finishing her home remodel. I knew that I would need help as my family ( husband and 3 kids) began living the dream of a 10 year plan to remodel our home. Sarah was quick to isolate and figure out a look and feel palette that served us well until the bitter end. What scared me ? Colors, Tile and Paint scared me the most! Sarah tackled the tile selection with a vengeance and sat down with three tile suppliers to get the tile ordered once she selected the style and manufacturer. That alone was a HUGE for me! She set the tone and style for our home including a an amazing look in our kitchen and 3 full and one half bath bathrooms. Lighting was another big decision to make and Sarah helped to open my eyes to styles and looks that I might not have considered. The "jewelry" on our walls and ceilings look amazing as a result of her input and ideas. We have been in out home for only 2 weeks but for those who have been by have been so thrilled and excited with the style and color choices made. Sarah's feathers are not ruffled easily and is so easy to get along with. We loved working with Sarah and felt we have made a new friend, My husband and I have made mistakes in the past when it has come to colors. We speak from experience when it comes to painting a room more than once. We did not want to make that same mistake again with a 3,000 square foot house. Sarah took the pain out of the process. Sarah provided input on many interior design ideas and helped to confirm my thoughts and ideas. Thank you Sarah! Jon and Linda Garbarino

Sarah is so calm. Her feathers don't (visibly) get ruffled. She is precise. She will not waste your time. She is creative. The results are exactly what you were trying to communicate but she had it all in her head. She gets you. And she'll calm you down in the process. Create your Houzz idea books. She'll take it from there.

We hired Sarah to help us design our home remodel and couldn't be more pleased. Our project included adding on a master bedroom and bath and laundry, plus gutting the expanding the existing kitchen and updating the other parts of our 1930s bungalow. Sarah is very detail oriented and a good communicator, working with us to choose cabinets, fixtures, lighting and paint that reflect both our personal style and the vintage of the home. I'd highly recommend working with Sarah Gaffney Designs again.

Our home is a 1916 Craftsman style home and we were looking for a guest bathroom that matched that era and style. Sarah was a tremendous resource for our guest bathroom remodel. She guided my husband and I through the process of picking out the faucets, valves, tiles, light fixtures, paint colors, etc. She helped us source high quality products that were made in the USA and sold by local vendors (this was important to us). She also helped us determine a budget and a timeline, and she provided us with referrals for contractors. We would definitely work with her for our next remodeling project!
