We hired Mercedes to evaluate a space problem.
Mercedes was very helpful in evaluating our space issues and drawing up plans for us to consider for a remodel. Her ability to visualize the finished look and communicate it encouraged us to take steps for a renovation. She has both the mechanical and aesthetic knowledge to to cover all aspects of the job.

I engaged her services as an Interior Designer
We decided to renovate instead of relocate and wanted an entirely new look to our home. Mercedes met with me to establish a vision and plan and then created a transformation of our home with color! She has an eye for color and a design IQ that is unsurpassed! She transformed our dark and oak interior to a light and bright contemporary home! I truly felt that I had a new home! She also provided hints to maintain several of our antiques and assisted us in creating a transitional feel to our home. In addition, she convinced us to transition from an organized clutter to a minimalist splendor! In addition she made stellar recommendations for subcontractors such as carpenters, construction specialists, painters, and other vendors who were as diligent and dependable, often a challenge in southwest Florida.
I have worked with 2 interior designers for past renovations. I must admit that neither experience was a positive experience for me. Mercedes is a wonderful listener and she assisted us in realizing our "new home." She helped us to create a new feel for our home with many budget friendly ideas. It is without reservation that I recommend Mercedes to other prospective clients. My overall experience was quite positive and I have made a new friend!

Our second project was the complete remake of a laundry room, guest bathroom and guest bedroom. I was so pleased with the fabrics and wallpapers that became our cornerstone for the rooms. The laundry was small but she redesigned the layout and it feels much larger now. The team she has put together are very professional and go the extra mile to get things done in record time. My three room project was done in 30 days! I highly recommend Mercedes for any project you may have.

I found Mercedes Courland at an industry event and had a feeling that I must speak with her. I look for outstanding Interior Design professionals who can specify our custom offerings.
Mercedes is rare. From her earliest training in Paris & London to 3 decades of experience in Manhattan & the Hamptons, she has distinguished herself by remembering the value of classical forms with a modern fashion consciousness. I believe Mercedes’ home life with an architect father and dancer mother contributed to her refined tastes.
To compare her to another known quantity, I say her approach is reminiscent of Ralph Lauren. She has that capability to feel entirely current but enduring. She brings a keen awareness of position and social circumstance, from crisp formality to comfortable. But always finds a way to elevate. She explains her sense of architecture in both hard finishes and soft finishes with exquisite perspective renderings, by hand.
Mercedes sets herself apart on procurement as well. Not every designer has a loom in the Himalayas waiting for her next creation! Mercedes can design original furniture, select or create a fabric, tile or paint and unite these textures with structural embellishment appropriate to the beat of the whole. Her demeanor is warm and functional-even soothing as a collaborator.

Mercedes is an extremely talented designer with exquisite taste. I've worked with others designers and none of them listened to what I wanted. Immediately when I started working with Mercedes she not only listened to me but made the entire experience exciting and fun.
She's designed a bathroom and a family room for us which came out stunning and takes my breath away every time I walk into them. I'm so excited to see what she has in store for the rest of the rooms in my home.

Have had the pleasure of working with Mercedes Courland over the past ten years on residential projects and designer showcases. She is a brilliant designer, she is consistently blows me away with her ideas and color treatments. For example, she recently did the Master bath in The Southampton Designer Showcase. With a predominantly grey scheme, she had me paint a fuchsia powder room with harlequin. The fuschia was a pop of color, and it came out amazing. I know from working with her clients, that they have all been thrilled to have Merceds design their home.

Mercedes is an extremely talented interior designer with a strong architectural background and vision to create and design ordinary space into the extraordinary. I was throughly impressed after having met and hired Mercedes only learn how truly gifted she is. A full drawing of my library inclusive of furnishings, amazing drapery and custom carpet complete with hand picked accessories and wallpaper gave me the confidence to know I had hired the right individual. Mercedes knowledge of space, color and texture is remarkable and i would recommend her. She's easy to work with and fees affordable.
