Maria has worked with us on several design projects and I can’t recommend her enough! Professional , reasonable and an amazing eye for design. I wish I could give her more than five stars Worth every penny !

My husband craves the sun! We were lucky enough to have a south facing sliding door, but the sun time was limited. We decided to add a small sun room, to our small house. We wanted it to blend in with our home and have character. We hired Maria and that room has become the favorite room in the house. It has 3 walls of windows, 2 skylights and an elevated ceiling all in an 8x10 space. Working with Maria is a delight. She LISTENS to what you want and then discusses possibilities. We could not have been more pleased.

Maria helped us transform our house from the humdrum to the sublime. The challenge was to unify the interior spaces (mid 70’s and late 80’s) and update the exterior of the structure without changing the existing footprint. This was important as it facilitated the town permitting for the renovation. It also allowed us to retain the elaborate hardscape and mature landscape. This extensive renovation included designing and replacing (and often repositioning) all windows and doors, reconfiguring several walls and redefining spaces. Maria’s guidance was incalculable and consistent throughout the project. Her invaluable vision created a home which brings us infinite joy. Her involvement was our favorite part of the entire project.

Call Maria right now! She is amazing. She is incredibly creative, smart, nice, and easy to work with, which makes a construction project so much better and easier. But then, when it is created, you'll realize how fantastic her skills are for placing things like windows, storage, openings, walls, etc. She designed a gut remodel of our 1,100 sf beach house and totally transformed it from a run-of-the-mill 1948 cottage to a home that when we walk in we just go WOW! And this happens every day when we get up, when we get home, all the time! And it's amazing how everything is just a few feet from where it is needed. I really don't know how she did so much with our house. Finally, the house is so comfortable, so spectacular, and so well thought through that we simply don't go out. It's too nice at home. We are grateful we were referred to Maria Aureli and strongly encourage you to give her a call. She will make your project better than you thought it could be!

We are a family of four and Maria has done many projects for us. Besides that Maria is easy and a lovely person to work with, she understands how we need and move in a space. For example, we wanted to add a bedroom in our Newport basement. She did not simply draw a box with windows and door like other architects. She thought beyond and added a alcove for functional use. It was simply brilliant!!! Then for another project in which we wanted to add a bathroom, she added a half wall to create a mud room before entering the bathroom. In addition to large projects, she has also done small projects for us. With colors selections, she have helped me created mood for my space, gray for my bedroom for relaxing and a warm green to gather in my kitchen. Now we can't do anything with our homes without consulting with Maria.

I’ve worked with Maria on two house projects – both being major re-design of existing interior spaces. Maria has an amazing knack for seeing what could be. I’m always looking for extra storage and closets and she created everything I asked for. She is responsive and a pleasure to work with.

Maria is a talented and creative designer. She is also a great listener and fun and easy to work with. The renovation of my entire second floor had some difficult parameters: take advantage of the ocean vista, increase the height of my ceilings without obstructing my neighbor’s views, keep the integrity of the architectural style of the house and adhere to the regulations of RI Coastal Resources. I wanted to replace the size of my small out-dated bathroom with my dream bathroom complete with a walk in closet with plenty of storage for clothes and accessories. The goal was to make sure there was a place for everything which included putting a washer and dryer on the second floor (but out of sight), not an easy task in the confines of my square footage. Maria’s architectural design fit perfectly with my 1948 Cape Cod style house. It was as if it had always been there. She understood all of my needs and desires and translated that information to create a plan that included all I had asked for. Maria communicated well with the contractor and vendors, spent time on site, stayed on top of every phase and was always available to me. In fact, in the process of the six month renovation, we became and are to this day fast friends! The completed renovation fulfilled all of my requests, and Maria was able to utilize every inch of space. She created a magazine worthy second floor without jeopardizing the architectural integrity of my 1948 Cape. Without hesitation and with the highest regard, I am pleased to recommend her for any design project!

Mine was the Brooklyn Brownstone in Maria's photographs. Working with her was an extraordinary experience. She created the architectural design for our third floor kitchen and our downstairs duplex renovations, coming up with a series of design ideas that were both beautiful and within our budget. She helped select our contractor and collaborated with him during each stage of both projects. She made weekly visits to the job site, and just as importantly, the contractor would call Maria with questions as the work progressed thereby avoiding costly “do overs.” She completed both projects within our budget and even more surprisingly, on time!
