I am in this entrepreneurial business for a totally selfish reason. I love designing a beautiful, clever, personalized space that my clients can look forward to going home to! I love working with people and getting to know what they like and want and how they live and function in their homes. This gives me the knowledge to create an atmosphere that will evoke pleasure and comfort where they live or work. Creating design has an ever changing aspect to it. It’s exciting and fresh all the time. It keeps me present with the basic fundamentals that are true with any design and inspires and refreshes me with new products, textures, color and application of techniques. I have a passion for color and the balance of those elements in a room. Achieving beauty, creativity, well balanced color and design, and tailoring it to be exactly as my clients want for their life style is so enjoyable for me. I love what I do and I look forward to meeting and working with you to make your home a beautiful reflection of you and your family.

Working with Laurie was an amazing experience!! She was able to create a setting in each and every room using a palette of colors that can only be described as mouthwatering!! I am an indecisive person, so for Laurie to be able to uncover and discover my personality through color and decor was a true testament to her incredible talent as an artist and a designer! There is rarely a time that my husband and I don't walk into our home without commenting on how much we love it!! I have seen numerous jobs that Laurie has done, and it is always obvious when it is a product of her work, as each and every one is a unique masterpiece !! I have been extremely fortunate to have worked with Laurie for approximately 10 years with general interior design, a major renovation/addition and designing our apartment while living in Asia. She is simply amazing. She has natural ability to blend simple designs with incredible art work, tiles, color accents that bounce off one another in a way I would never have envisioned. Laurie will work within your budget balancing simple with extraordinary. Laurie is in front of various trends including tile, art including mixed media, colors, fabrics, flooring (amazing rugs!). She has a way of bringing out your playful side in a very subtle way. We moved from the Twin Cities 5 years ago; however, we have been creative with technology to accomplish the same goals. We were thrilled to have the priveldge of working with Laurie McDowell on our Kitchen remodel. Her keen eye to detail is what turned an ordinary kitchen remodel to an extrodinary kitchen. We were on the lower side of the budget but the kitchen certainly does not look like it! She is also very professional and diplomatic when working with us and various contractors.

I learned of Laurie through a friend with whom Laurie had worked, and I loved what I saw. I was loathe to give her a call because I thought services like hers were only for those doing a major renovation, or those with very deep pockets. I am very glad I called Laurie, she is working with me where I am, and has proven to be extremely helpful. She has guided me with color choices, has helped me avoid mistakes, and is working with me to create the warm environment I seek.....all on a budget. We have worked with Ms. McDowell for the past 2 years. We purchased a new condo, our urban cabin, and she has helped us from the beginning of the project, choosing titles, cabinets, granite to the stage of furnishing it. We could not be happier.
