People think design careers are all about style, taste, and a special "eye" for aesthetics. That's important, but there's so much more required to create successful projects.
I'm fortunate that my path to design has been a circuitous one. While I've always been passionate about home design, my education is in engineering. There I learned the discipline of project management in the aerospace field, where perfection is the only acceptable result. I later worked in package design at Starbucks, where I discovered the art of balancing technical requirements with creative goals. I also managed a furniture store where I found a way to blend customer service with creativity, increasing sales 300%.
But perhaps the most important skill I have developed on my path is listening. And that's the basis of my design practice today. I consider a project successful when you get what you want. I will give you my honest input on what will work best to help you achieve your goals, but I never forget that we're working on your home; not mine, not one in a design magazine.
My entire body of experience -- design, project management, and customer service -- helps me provide you with great ideas then execute them to perfection. And hopefully, in a manner that's as much fun for you as it is for me.
