Julia Cutler Interior Design is a full service interior design firm located in Boston specializing in residential design and decoration. Regardless of scope or size of project, Julia works one-on-one with each client and welcomes a collaborative approach to the overall design. Julia has the keen ability to listen to her clients and to translate their wants and needs into a beautiful and functional home interior. Her sophisticated and creative vision integrates simple, timeless designs with the architecture of the home tailored to reflect the client's individual lifestyle. Julia’s background features outstanding academic preparation and holds a Masters in Interior Design from the University of Massachusetts, Amherst as well as a BA in Romance Languages and Art from Mount Holyoke College. After ten years of apprenticeship with two nationally recognized design firms (Bierly-Drake Associates and Lisa Vandenburgh in Boston, MA), she launched Julia Cutler Interior Design. In addition to her residential projects in Boston and greater New England, she has traveled extensively working on projects in San Francisco, CA, Scottsdale, AZ, Vail, CO, Naples, FL, Oahu, HI, and Osaka, Japan. Julia is a member of the American Society of Interior Designers.

Julia has an impeccable and sophisticated aesthetic. She listened keenly to my wants and needs and was able to bring an overall cohesiveness to my home. She was incredibly professional, a pleasure to work with and stayed on schedule. I highly recommend her.

We are proud owners of a sturdy 91 year-old house. What makes us proud is the successful renovation of the kitchen area and the bathrooms in the house and the redesign of other areas. It has taken us nearly a decade to make all the changes and throughout this period we have relied on the professional wisdom and advice of Julia Cutler. Julia has helped us maintain the "big picture" while paying attention to the many details that picture requires. She communicates clearly and without ambiguity with our contractors and with us. She meets her deadlines, is forthright about costs, and is quite willing to help us search for alternative solutions to problems. She has throughout this project been realistic about the time that big changes require. Over time what stands out is her unfailing sense of design and color and her genuine desire to help us create an interior design we immensely enjoy.

Julia is an incredibly pleasant, enthusiastic and talented professional who is capable of handling big renovations. Julia was my god-send during our Tudor style home renovation down to the studs and foundation. One of her biggest attributes was her timeliness and promptness to our needs. She was the driving force behind organizing contractors/ and sub-contractors to get the job done. I relied on her knowledge of product and her vision as a designer to which she exceeded all of my expectations. She had the foresight to comprehend the vision we desired and the talent to make it work all while keeping our budget in focus. I would recommend Julia in the highest regard for all projects big and small, as she is capable of handling it all. She is a true joy to work with.

Julia recently worked with us on a large-scale renovation of our family room and kitchen, as well as the addition of a mudroom and enclosed four-season porch. Her ability to work with us to plan the space in a way that beautifully updated our home, yet stayed within our budget, was excellent. Julia uses a very professional network of vendors, and seamlessly coordinated the overall scheme of our project. She was extremely good at matching materials, textures, and colors in a way that complements our lifestyle and tastes. Julia interfaced well with our contractor and sub-contractors, and was readily available for appointments. We would recommend her, without reservation.

Julia has worked in my showroom in West Hartford, ct many times in the past. Her attention to detail is always well thought out, as well as how she listens to the needs of her client and the particular job we are working on. She is able to put together so many aspects of design to make sure they all work well with each other, but, keeping in mind her clients individual needs. I would highly recommend Julia as an Interior Designer.

Julia of Julia Cutler Interior Design has a vast knowledge of the Interior Design industry and it shows! Through her instinct, training and education she has a quick eye for what works for her current and future clients. This is so important as there are an array of options out there to the consumer and this can be overwhelming. She understands the importance of balancing a clients budget while trying to create a unique, elegant and functional interior space.
