I work in New York City, Hamptons, Palm Beach, Connecticut, LA, Upstate NY as well as the Metropolitan Area. I am a designer with the enthusiasm to approach each project as if it were the most important project ever worked on. My signature style is warm, personalized with strong design accents. Not only have many of my clients become repeat clients; many have become friends. I have to say, valued parts of my design process is shopping with my clients for all furniture, accessories and art. Proudly, I have been commended for being a visionary and an invaluable collaborator with clients, architects, contractors and specialized tradesmen. Interior design has always been part of me - it is my DNA. My grandfather did all the interior painting for Helena Rubenstein. My mother was a creative designer who relentlessly shopped for furniture at the importers on University Place and for fabrics at a Scalamandre fabric outlet and I was always her willing assistant. With this pedigree and passion I went to design school and received my degree from the Fashion Institute of Technology. After graduation, I worked for two internationally renowned avant garde designers, David Barrett and Jay Specter. This was the best training any young designer could hope for. In 1974, I started my own design company; Ilene Wetson Inc. That year I also met Joachim Springer, the brother of Karl Springer, the legendary contemporary furniture manufacturer. I eventually married Joachim and became involved with Karl Springer LTD. I learned how to manufacture furniture, buy and develop new product and oversaw the design of their new showrooms in Los Angeles, Munich and Miami. In addition to my full-time schedule, I volunteered at The Kips Bay Boys and Girls Club Decorators Show House, as a Chairman and Trustee. The last significant project for Ilene Wetson Inc was in 1991, when I decorated my childhood friend Donna Karan's new home in East Hampton. At any given time my team and I have a variety of active projects both residential and commercial. I have carved out a niche decorating family residences, lobbies of co-op buildings and model apartments. My residential projects include multiple settings in New York; 15 and 25 CPW, Fifth and Park Avenues, Soho, homes in Greenwich, Palm Beach, Los Angeles, the Hamptons and Italy.
