Hello, I'm David Ballengee, Owner and Lead Design Consultant of Gryphon Interiors. I first began my Interior Design journey about 20 years ago, while living in San Diego, CA. I was pursuing my Fine Arts degree at Mesa College, though I wasn't sure what I was going to do with it. Until, one summer, I landed a Visual Merchandising / Sales position for a high-end furniture store and fell in love with it! This position later morphed into a Buying position which I enjoyed for several years. Then the economy began to tip in California and my beloved store, and the position that came with it, came to an end. That's when I learned that life has a tendency to change when you least expect it and I found myself back in my home town of Albuquerque, NM.
Here in Albuquerque, I attended The Art Center Design College where I was able to direct my Fine Arts education into Design. After four long years of architectural design and building courses, I finally earned my Bachelor's degree in Interior Design in 2008. In the many years since, I've had the opportunity to work with and learn from some of the best Designers of Albuquerque and Santa Fe. Most recently, I was the Drapery and Soft Treatment Specialist for the leading window covering business in the North Albuquerque and Rio Rancho area. A position I enjoyed very much but longed for the day I would own my own Interior Design Consulting business. August 8, 2017 that day finally came.
