I first contacted Amy about my kitchen extension and general refurb of our ground floor a couple of years ago. I knew I wouldn’t have the time to spend hours trailing the internet for inspiration and more importantly I was concerned that my efforts would end up looking disjointed and not feel like my home. I needed someone who could integrate our modern extension into a period property and make it look seamless. Having spent some time looking at different designers’ websites I didn’t feel I had found someone who had the kind of eclectic look I was trying to get.....and then I found the Greta Mae site! As soon as I saw Amy’s work on previous projects I knew I had found the person I needed to help me. Amy is really comfortable coming in at the start of a project, when the only thing she has to work from are plans and ideas and works with these to create something really special. I also really liked the way she has managed to create different cost models for her work as I think one of the main worries can be whether you can afford to get an interior designer’s help and whether they will be able to work within your budget. Amy met with me before the build started and her help in thinking about lighting and breaking up the space were invaluable. The type of things that are often overlooked like what built in lighting to have, where to put switches and sockets as well as all the finishing touches like fabrics, rugs and furniture. In an otherwise quite stressful project during a pandemic I was never worried that we were going to finish and I wouldn’t love the end product. She was always on hand to help with any questions or suggest new ideas. I only wish I had found her before and I can’t wait to work with her again in the future. I would recommend her to anyone thinking of a new build, extension or just some new ideas.

I recently bought an apartment with my husband, and we decided to completely renovate the entire property. Taking on such a big project is quite daunting for us having never done anything like this before, so we asked Amy to help us to design the property and bring our ideas and thoughts to life. We knew sort of what we wanted the property to look like, but we were struggling to imagine how it would look as a whole and had no idea where to find the pieces to bring the look together. After an initial consultation, Amy used our ideas to create design boards which gave us real inspiration for how the property could look, tying together our style using current pieces we own and adding new furniture to create a look that is stylish and modern yet very liveable.

Amy has assisted us develop interiors schemes for two projects at our home. The first being an extension and the second developing a colour scheme for several rooms. For our extension, Amy advised on finishes and colour scheme. Due to budget, we were repurposing some existing fittings and furniture and adding new where essential. Amy worked carefully within our budget and helped us achieve a tasteful design that was considerate in mixing existing with new additions. For the colour scheme, Amy helped us develop a cohesive scheme building on her work with the family room and another room we had recently decorated. Amy really got what we wanted to create: a scheme that links calmly through our house. Amy has also been helping us with some fittings and furniture. The products she suggest are great, ranging from better quality high street to makers on Etsy. The renovation of our home has benefitted greatly from Amy’s input. It reflects our personality and taste - we feel like we have ownership of the design.

Great consultation about a new bathroom in our house. greta-mae gave ideas that were in keeping with the rest of our house but also introduced some contemporary scandi designs which is what we were looking for. I would definitely use greta-mae again (we’re looking at kitchens next!) because ideas and designs were realistic. A very easy designer to work with- approachable and friendly.

We sought help from greta-mae interiors before we moved into our new house. We had a few weeks between completion and needing to leave our rental so saw this as the perfect opportunity to get the bulk of the work done. We wanted the property to reflect our taste and the furniture that we had collected over the years so Amy, from greta-mae, asked us to send her some images of the key items we had, along with a few words to summarise our style. Within a few days we had a mood board that captured what I had imagined perfectly and even after some back and forth, and a lot of patience on Amy’s part, my partner agreed to the colour scheme. Our budget was limited and our goal was longevity - we didn’t want to go with the latest trends or something that will suit us for now, we have a 4 year old daughter so wanted something that she would be happy with now but with a few tweaks could work when she’s older. Amy understood our needs perfectly and was more than happy to tailor the recommendations to our budget, sourcing products from a variety of places. We’re saving up for our next big project, the kitchen, and will without a doubt be asking greta-mae for help again.
